Arcade pre-purchase

I noticed in the cruise planner you can pre-purchase arcade credits at a 20% discount. I'm trying to remember how the arcade works do you normally just swipe your room key or do you buy cards from a vending machine? If you buy from a vending machine do you get a better then 20% discount if you buy a larger amount of credits? Will be sailing on the Explorer if that makes a difference.

We are boarding Liberty on Sunday. I’ve purchased $50 credit for each of our four kids. On NCL, you swipe your room key.,.there is no packaged savings option. I’ll find out soon enough if RC is the same way. More to come!

I looked at doing this but in the end didn't as it was our first cruise. If its the same as UK sailings you have to go to the arcade on the day of boarding to have any prepaid credit added to your seapass

I wish I had better memory, lol. We bought it last year before the cruise. It was in the planner, I believe with the internet packages. If I do remember correctly, it was separate cards from the sea pass, but I could be wrong. I believe I remember an envelope in our room with them. You will not find a better deal in the reloading machines on board. We were disappointed on Freedom last year with the limited selection of games as well as the number that were out of order. With that being said though, the kids enjoyed themselves and it did use up some of the time on sea days.

I can only report my experience with the pre purchased arcade credit from Symphony of the Seas from this may:

We did not get any information on the credits in our cabin how to use them in the arcade at all .. after lining up at guest relations we were told to go to the casino host to apply them to our kids cards.

This did actually work, but there is no way to keep track on remaining balance or credits used other than going to the casino host again and let them print out the balance. Overall it was more hassle to run around than just let them use their cards and i would not purchase again in advance.

As mentioned this was on Symphony... hope this helps

For kids who are Crown and Anchor members they have an arcade deal- (at least as of last year) Spend $5 and get $10 (only $5 that you paid for can be used for prize/ticket games) and Spend $25 and get $50 (again only paid $25 can be used for prize/ticket games.)

We did not do this, but this way you get same deal as pre paid and you can check out arcade first and see how everything works.

My kids only like ticket/prize games so we did not bother with arcade.

Just curious - how far out are you from your sail date? We are 100 days out, and I don’t see this anywhere. If it is a good deal, we would also be interested.

440 Days away still.  Still wondering how it works on the Explorer do you just add credits to your room key?

On the liberty if you pre bought credits. You go up to the arcade on the first day after boarding and their is a guy with a computer and list of all pre bought guest.  He will scan the sea pass of whichever person wants the credits loaded.  This only from our experience on liberty.

Same on the Harmony.  I pre-purchased $50 arcade credit for $40 and on day 1 on the ship we went up to the arcade and asked that it be loaded on my brother’s seapass card.  I agree with the previous poster that it was a nuisance though as there was no way to check the balance afterwards except at the guest services desk.  The other option is to pay as you go ($1.50-$3 per game charged automatically to your seapass account) or add credits on the ship.  In any case, you would use your seapass card or WOW band to pay.

Don't pre-pay for this ahead of time.

Arcades very from ship to ship.  Some are ok, some are poor.

They are usually not run very well or cared for.

Many of the arcades consist of broken, uncalibrated, bad screens, no sound, missing parts, out of order, etc.

Check it out ahead of time to make sure there are games you actually can and want to play first...

What do you mean by adding credits on the ship?  How does this work?

On some ships, you need to load credits for use in the arcade on the seapass card before you start playing. There is usually the option of charging the credits to your seapass account or inserting cash (USD).

Thanks do you know if you get a discount on these machines (the more credits you buy the cheaper they are per credit)?  If so what would be the percentage of savings if you buy the largest amount?

No discount if you add credits while on the ship as far as I’ve seen. Just the flexibility of adding a smaller amount ($5? $10?) if the games are not to your liking or not working.
