Heating Pad

I’ll be boarding the Getaway in 59 days along with 12 members of my family. I’m currently dealing with a really sore knee and seem to get the most relief from heat. Can heating pads be brought aboard? I really don’t want to miss out on activities because of a painful knee!

You can get the same effect using towels soaked in hot water.  You could also bring chemical heating packs with you.  You could get a spa pass and spend some time in the hot tub (spa hot tub is usually hotter than regular ones).

 

There are lots of options out there, enjoy your trip!

Found this thread that talks about the same issue. Basically seems like you're not allowed to bring it, but NCL seems to provide the "smack pack" type of ice/heat packs.

maybe with a doctors note that the heating pad is prescribed  ?? 

Call and check with an NCL supvr to see if it's ok with a dr note.

You can't bring an electric heating pad on board, but there are numerous brands of chemical heating pads that you can purchase very inexpensively that do the same thing.

We've brought a heating pad before....and an extension cord, since plugs aren't very close to comfortable seating in most cabins.  I simply pack it in with shoes, hangers, etc...so it's not obvious on X-ray.   Of course, we're very careful to unplug and put away when it's not being used.

We always pack a heating pad because my wife has chronic back pain.   We did not realize we were breaking any rules and the heating pad has never been confiscated. Following this thread with great interest.

Any item with a heating element in it is a fire hazard.

 

I don't think anyone would want a fire on a ship in the middle of the ocean.

Thanks for all of the information and suggestions. Rather than risk having to surrender my beloved heating pad, I think I’ll leace it at home and get some chemical heating pads.😢😢

Please, don’t be ridiculous. Bring the heating pad and an extension cord. I was very ill this year and couldn’t haven’t lived without mine on the Epic. I actually brought TWO...only ever used one, and It never got unplugged once, even with the extension cord.

Is the re a freezer in the refrigerators? I can't remember. If so, a reusable ice pack could also be helpful.

I love the people in this thread who are telling OP to violate the rules, and admitting that they do it all the time. OP might get the heating pad on board, or it might be caught when the bags are x-rayed (they all are). There is no reason to violate a safety rule, because your personal comfort is potentially putting the entire ship at risk, because the greatest risk to any ship is a fire at sea.

I would just bring a hot water bottle and fill it up at the buffet. It doesn’t take up much room in the luggage and hold heat well.
