Montana Posted October 27, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2018 Wondering where we can go for lunch On embarkation on the Ruby Princess. First time on this ship and want to avoid the crowds. Anyone know what are my options.
Colo Cruiser Posted October 27, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2018 The DR is where we always go to have a nice relaxing lunch upon boarding. Noon - 1:30pm.
Papa Yoda Posted October 27, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2018 (edited) Almost always it's Da Vinci DR Deck 6 Midships. Crew will try to send you to buffet - but ask where MDR lunch is. Salmon, or Pasta, or a burger, couple appetizers. Club Class doors are starboard side. Edited October 27, 2018 by Ferd Berfle
satxdiver Posted October 27, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2018 Crew most times when we have asked insisted there was no MDR open for lunch. We stopped asking and looked for ourselves with it mostly being the MDR on deck 6 midship. There is also the IC on deck 5 and the pizzeria and grill on the lido deck near the pool. One will almost always find us in the MDR for embarkation lunch.
Thrak Posted October 27, 2018 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2018 As Ferd Berfle said the crew will tell you to go to the buffet. If you can't get a straight answer regarding the dining room lunch (and if you are in time for the dining room lunch) go to your cabin, drop off your luggage (which we would always do anyway before eating) and check the back page of the Patter for info on the available dining room. It's a very nice lunch with good food and a much more relaxing atmosphere than the buffet. MDR lunch is over at 1:30 so please don't show up at 1:20 and ask to be served. They may well serve you but it's rude to the staff. If it's close to the end time for MDR embarkation lunch please eat in a different venue. Otherwise... Enjoy your MDR embarkation lunch!

DR open noon to 1:30, it's normally the DaVinci, deck 6, mid ship These 3 venues remain open throughout the day an evening. Horizon Ct. buffet, deck 15 aft International Cafe, Deck5, mid ship Grill and Pizza outdoors by Neptune's Reef Pool - Believe they now have new selections. DrivesLikeMario Posted October 28, 2018 #13 Share Posted October 28, 2018 We like to go to the grill because most passengers haven't discovered it yet. Burgers, bratwurst, hot dogs (always get them butterflied and well done), chicken breasts and great fries. There are usually a lot of bar service personnel anxious to take orders too. It's quiet and very few people are around. This way, we also avoid all those germs passengers are walking on with in the buffet.
