smj Posted November 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2018 It has been several years since we sailed Holland America. In the past we would bring a case of bottled water to the pier where it would be tagged and brought to our cabin. Is this still possible?
CruiserBruce Posted November 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2018 Yes...discussed here frequently. But more than one or two refillable bottles per person is really not needed. The water on board is just fine, tastes great, is FREE, and doesn't come with a plastic waste issue.

I believe the policy is now that any beverages brought onboard must be carried on, not in checked bags.
Djptcp Posted November 20, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2018 Carnival changed their policy and water and soda brought on board must be in cans, not bottles anymore. I didn't see that change for HAL on the HAL website, but just checking. We like to bring soda with us as mixers for the bottle of liquor we order for our cabin. Cans or bottles, it does not matter, as long as it is part of your your carry-on luggage.
OlsSalt Posted November 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 20, 2018 The HAL mineral water packages that you can either pre-order or order on board are fairly reasonable - Evian on the last cruise. Mineral water helps add back in what the ship's water purification system takes out.
GreenSmoothieCruiser Posted November 25, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 25, 2018 We were on the Nieuw Amsterdam last week and had a case of bottled water. It was tagged and delivered to our room with the luggage. No issues.
I like vacation Posted November 27, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 27, 2018 We brought 2 small luggage bags, one for bottled water and one for soda. We parked in the garage at Ft Lauderdale across from the Zuiderdam and gave the 2 small bags and 2 suitcases to the porters and they were all delivered to our room. The 2 small bags showed up with an "ALCOHOL" sticker on them and appeared to have been inspected.
Kruzer Zuker Posted November 27, 2018 #9 Share Posted November 27, 2018 Is there a limit to how much you can bring on?
