OBC for FCC / FCD?

Does anyone know if you can buy OBC (purchased OBC) and use it for a future cruise deposit? I'd rather not take an extra credit card with me, so I was wondering if you could buy enough $ OBC to cover the certificate cost.

No, it has to be paid separately from your onboard account.  You can use the same credit card if you wish, but it is charged immediately.  If you wish to use another credit card (as we do if purchasing in CAD), you do not necessarily have to bring the card and show it to them.  Just copy the numbers (incl expiry date and security code) somewhere before leaving home and then just pick up the form at their desk, fill it in, and give it back to them.

I wish I'd known, I could have asked for you last week while we were on Nieuw Amsterdam.  We filled out the form, did not have to add another card number, and they billed our card on file.  Turned in the form and received copies of the FCD the next day.

I had a large negative balance on board,from OBC plus tours that were canceled, but wasn’t allowed to use it for FCD.  Maybe they need the credit card in the event one doesn’t use the FCD (to return it to you).

FCD are not bought out of your shipboard account- never have been that I am aware of. They are a separate purchase on whatever credit card you chose to use. They are purchased almost as if you aren't even on the ship.
