Maksim Posted November 29, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2018 We are doing full transit from LA to Fll in January. Would like to know if we need to prepare any mosquito spray or repellent. Also, if there are other bugs to be aware of. Those of you that did full transit, which products did you use? Any advise is appreciated.

Alaskanb Posted November 29, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2018 We are taking towelette type bug repellent for excursions -- I'm a mosquito magnet.

riffatsea Posted November 30, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 30, 2018 I would expect that if you are taking any excursions that go into jungle areas, that mosquito repellent would be a good idea! Remember to put it on AFTER sun tan lotion .
Maksim Posted November 30, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted November 30, 2018 Thank you all. The only one I can think of is Costa Rica since we’ll be going into the rain forest.
cb at sea Posted December 4, 2018 #9 Share Posted December 4, 2018 Actually, during the canal transit, you should keep your balcony door closed...there are bugs of the flying variety...and they will come into your cabin. They didn't bother us, but every time we opened the door, there were flying insects.... We didn't need mosquito repellant on the ship or at any port....but we weren't in the deeps of the jungle, either. If you plan to go off the beaten path, do bring and use a repellant. Thank you so much. Good points. It might also depend of the time of year what kind of insects are flying around.
Rare Turtles06 Posted December 5, 2018 #11 Share Posted December 5, 2018 We did a full transit a couple of years ago (Miami to LA) and brought mosquito repellent with us. (We had picaridin rather than DEET, less greasy.) Put it on a few times iirc; never saw a mosquito. I’d still bring some. Enjoy your trip!
