CCL - everything is coming up roses

Carnival Cruise Lines is entering its first float in the Pasadena Rose Parade this coming New Years Day - celebrating the future launch of the Carnival brand ship the Panorama, intended to be based in the Port of Los Angeles (San Pedro) for the next 20 years.  It will be Carnival's first fully LNG ship,  to be launched in 2020

 

CCL is also featured in an article about cruise lines "going green" as it now has ordered 11 ships running off LNG within its corporate family of ships (None among the HAL ships). CCL's Aida brand NOVA is the first ship to be powered by LNG both at sea and in port. The CCL brands that do feature LNG technology are: Princess; Carnival; Costa; P&O and their German brand AIDA. Why not HAL?

 

Norwegian fjords, Arctic and Antarctic are becoming  much stricter about cruise ship fuel emissions. Hurtigruten now has three hybrid LNG ships on order, which do specialize in these environmentally sensitive areas.

 

As CCL shareholders and beneficiaries of CCL onboard credits on our HAL ships, it will be fun to see the CCL rose parade float.

All of the lines mentioned will introduce LNG vessels that are based on the same platform of around 180.000grt.

You can see the first ship already as Aida Nova has been launched recently.

Obviously not the size that HAL requires ( at the moment)...

Maybe their PR machine is getting ahead of both - the ports and the deployment.
