Dining tables for two

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Planning a trip on Ovation which will be our first cruise.

Are there dining tables for two in the free restaurants and how hard are they to secure?

Same question for the speciality restaurants?

Does anyone know the current costs of the speciality dining packages and are they also subject to additional charges like gratuities?

Many Thanks!

The prices of the dining packages are in your Cruise Planner.

So far, when you purchase dining before your cruise, no gratuity is added. You should feel free to leave the staff some cash if you feel that the service warrants it.

There are are lots of two-tops in MTD.  Quite a few in traditional dining too.

Lots in specialty restaurants, too.

I always ask for a table for 2, preferably by a window, and have not been disappointed.  You should contact RCLdining@rccl.com about 45 days out. List the vessel name, Res. #, date of cruise, C&A # and time of dining.  If this fails, go to the MDR as soon as you board and make your request directly to  the many Maitre Ds stationed to make any changes.

Also, no problem with your request with the specialty dining.

Most two tops are so close together that your hardly eating alone.  On our last cruise we had 9 specialty dining reservations. Each time we asked for a table for four but just for the two of us,  no problem, no questions. Just ask and you will receive.  We did have all reservations 8pm or later.

On almost EVERY ship and cruise line, they now have plenty of tables for loners.....this all started with the advent of cell phones, I've found.  I love tablemates, but not everyone does.  Most ships now only seat YOUR party together, whether it's 2 or 10!  No worries.
