Hair Straighteners that work in my room?

I cruised on Carnival Horizon and my hair straightener wouldn’t work. I tried to take it to multiple outlets but nothing. My curling wand worked, though. What hair straighteners do you have that work on cruise ships? Need to avoid my hair frizzing from the heat at all costs!!

My flat iron always works in the regular outlet.

My wife has an HSI Professional, works on either 110V or 220V.

Was this a Dyson product?  I've seen reports of Dyson hair products not working on ships.  I've contacted their technical department to see if the floating ground could be an issue, but they never responded.

No, it was  Remington. I was advised to try and bring it to the spa bathroom but it didn't work in there either.

Mine is also a Remington and works fine.

Check where your appliance is from. European voltage is higher the North America so that can affect things.

 

Easiest way round this for most cruisers is to travel with a multi adaptor in your bag for most plug sockets but especially US/EU ones.

Did you look to see if there’s a switch on your hair straightener that toggles between 110 and 220? There’s usually a 110 and a 220 outlet and you have to be sure your appliance matches the outlet.

I have a Remington. I use mine on board all the time. Double check to make sure you are using the right outlet for your straightener (110/220V).
