diegodenzel Posted December 17, 2018 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2018 Hi, we are sailing on Harmony in Feb. I am aware of the cruising with kids board but the questions I have are specific to RCC and Harmony. We will be sailing with 11 month old twins and a 4yo (along with grandma and uncle for extra hands). We will not be taking the kids to the MDR as they go to bed early and the adults can take turns going out. Is there anywhere other than the MDR where I can get plain food, like steamed veggies or chicken breasts? The babies have a possible milk protein intolerance so our options are limited. Obviously, we will not bring our big tandem stroller but are looking at buying a tandem umbrella stroller. It would be longer than a regular umbrella stroller but no wider. I understand things are tight on a cruise but will this type of stroller work on the Harmony? Like can we stroll in the Boardwalk or CP during naps or will we be in the way? Thanks for the help! Ken at the beach Posted December 17, 2018 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2018 Talk to them the first day and they will be able to accommodate your request in the Windjammer.

Depends on the timing - it can work sometimes, but not when for example the aqua theater show just gets out.
Robo1098 Posted December 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted December 17, 2018 I saw a few on our recent Symphony cruise. The tandem seem to be better than side by side style. It seems like it may be a little tough during the times when a show is letting out or there is something going on in the Promenade but they seemed to make it work okay. Enjoy the cruise. Good to hear. Would rather not have to bring baby food for two for a week on board!

We will be mindful of shows and stuff. Thanks for the replies!
Mak7464 Posted December 18, 2018 #7 Share Posted December 18, 2018 just got off of harmony, seen many tandem and double strollers. seemed to do ok, im am sure there will be some tight spaces. the tandem always better than the side by sides, shouldnt be no bigger than some of those scooters I see all over. FMZ Posted December 19, 2018 #9 Share Posted December 19, 2018 Just wanted to to chime in about dinners. We've been taking our kids in cruises since they were 6 months. If you would like to take all or 1 of them to mdr please do so. We did and the staff loves it and will accommodate whatever you need for kids. Obviously if we had a situation one of us would leave with a kid but for the most part the servers googled over them so much they were happy most of the time. After the first night they'll have set up your high chairs ahead of time. Also Rccl has a fabulous family play area for littles up near nursery. And nursery is fantastic for babies. We paid to have kids in there so we could go to shows and we never ever had an issue. Rccl was our favorite cruise line with the babies, very accommodating. Make sure to order pack and plays ahead of time for cabin if you need them. If you have another baby cruising related questions feel free to ask. Kids are now 7 and 9 so they have a lot of cruises under their belts.
helphelp Posted January 17, 2019 #10 Share Posted January 17, 2019 We took our 6 month old grandson on a cruise and the staff fell in love with him. Everyone went out of their way to show him attention. Each night in the main dining room, our server would bring him something to munch on and was so very accommodating. Rare orville99 Posted January 17, 2019 #11 Share Posted January 17, 2019 Three comments: 1) there is a "family time" MDR seating that may work for your 4YO if they are enrolled in the kids club. I believe it is ~6PM, and someone from the club comes into the MDR to collect the kids once they're done with dinner. 2) For the milk issue, both the MDR and the WJ have almond milk available, but you have to ask for it from the waiter (MDR) or at the beverage counter (WJ). DW is lactose intolerant, and always gets the almond milk. 3) the nursery is great, but it comes at a $$cost. It would be a good option for formal nights if all of the adults want to have a nice evening w/o the kids in tow. You want to set that up as early as possible once you board, because space in the nursery is somewhat limited.
cello56 Posted January 17, 2019 #12 Share Posted January 17, 2019 You might want to consider TWO umbrella strollers with those clips that lock them together. That way you could each push one child, or if just one needed to be walked around it would be easier to unclip and use just one stroller.
GalwayGirl03 Posted January 17, 2019 #13 Share Posted January 17, 2019 ditto all the other recommendations...we love the early dining time with our kids the MDR is great to accommodate. after the first night they always have the high chair up and know my kids only eat the strawberries out of the fruit cup so we get cups full of strawberries. They really cater the kids and it is a great family meal so don't feel afraid to take them in!
diegodenzel Posted January 21, 2019 Author #14 Share Posted January 21, 2019 Thanks for all the suggestions. We hope to do the MDR but when we were in Orlando in Nov, my 3yo was begging to go to bed by 6pm each night so it may not work out.
