silkhair1 Posted January 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2019 Is there an option to prepay the parking at the Pier or is just easier to show up on the day of embarkation and pay then? What do most of you do?
Purvis1231 Posted January 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2019 It depends on the port.
OCruisers Posted January 6, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2019 Depents on your embarkation port. If it's Florida, all you have to do in advance to park at the cruise terminal parking area is show up. You pay when you leave.
joepeka Posted January 6, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2019 I'm guessing, from the OP's countdown clock, the embarkation port is New Orleans. Unfortunately, I cannot answer the parking question, never having driven to that port.
ccd228 Posted January 6, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 6, 2019 New Orleans you pay as you enter. They want to see your boarding pass and you have to pay before you can enter the garage. Atleast that is how it was May 2018.

teknoge3k Posted January 6, 2019 #7 Share Posted January 6, 2019 We always park off-site for half of the cost.
Rare Saint Greg Posted January 6, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 6, 2019 If you do Fulton Garage and take their shuttle you can prepay. Not at the port though

A quick Google search shows a whole slew of hotels that allow free parking while on a cruise if you stay there. No, that doesn't include the stay. I am not sure about shuttle, we never use hotel shuttles. We prefer Uber.
Hotdog 52 Posted January 7, 2019 #15 Share Posted January 7, 2019 Fulton Garage was still 10 dollars a day last November.
Sebleo Posted January 7, 2019 #16 Share Posted January 7, 2019 I switched from leaving out of New Orleans to Galveston so I admit I’m not up to date on their prices. Out of of curiosity I went to their site and now they charge different rates for different times of year. Christmas time is $16.50 Jan-May is $15 i checked August and it is $10 So, I guess it depends on when you go.

Mutumbojimbo Posted January 9, 2019 #18 Share Posted January 9, 2019 In Mobile, you can pre-pay and I definitely would. The longest lines I saw on embarkation day were at the parking kiosks.
kabelogo Posted January 9, 2019 #19 Share Posted January 9, 2019 galveston, just stay at gaidos. one night at the hotel you can park there for the duration of the cruise. we are leaving out the 19th, and its way cheaper then paying for 14 days of parking. plus, its nice to be in port a day early just to cover bases. dmetcalfwoo Posted January 9, 2019 #20 Share Posted January 9, 2019 Any suggestions on which parking area for the Tampa port? I'm looking in particularly at "The Parking Doctors" and "717". Being Canadian and a first time Carnival Cruiser, I would appreciate any information.

We used to look at the various parking vendors outside the port too. But honestly, after the cruise when it is mobbed with people trying to get the parking shuttles back to the offsite lots, it was a mad house and we had to drag our luggage and wait for a long time. Now, we just prepay for the actual Port of Tampa parking. It is so much easier! Maybe a few dollars more, but well worth it for time savings, especially at the end of the cruise.
