Doubt It Posted January 16, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2019 Is there a reason that PG does not have a second ship? Is there not enough business to justify a newer ship with enhanced food and service? Thank you for your knowledge!
alwaysonaship Posted January 17, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2019 Personally I think they do a great Job and that one ship is very special..leaving tomorrow.
sita Posted January 17, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2019 Enhanced service? Have you been on the PG? Agree with alwaysonaship (and more than a little bit envious) have fun
justmeindustland Posted January 17, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2019 The use to have a second, smaller ship. I think it was only 76 people. There was no shade around the pool, the dining room was unbearably hot, the rooms where very comfortable but for some reason would get very hot around 2:00 in the morning. Wendy The Wanderer Posted January 17, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 17, 2019 I think the company has been focusing on its hotel business. Just my two cents. But the PG is fabulous--they sure don't need another ship in FP. Perhaps a newer ship some day, but they've been keeping up the PG very nicely. It's 20 years old now. DavidTheWonderer Posted February 12, 2019 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2019 One of the considerations is sort of similar to a decision that restaurants have to make: An extensive menu vs. a smaller but well focused one. I tend to prefer the latter. The company behind the PG, having dipped their toe into the multi-ship waters, have for now retreated to a single ship on which they focus on making it the best experience possible. Despite boyerd's short and negative comment, the PG is still my favourite of any ship/itiinerary. Of course "your mileage may vary."
alwaysonaship Posted February 12, 2019 #8 Share Posted February 12, 2019 I was told last month by the hotel manager that they were building a new ship. I guess it wasn’t a secret or he would not have told me.
alwaysonaship Posted February 12, 2019 #9 Share Posted February 12, 2019 The carpet didn’t smell when we were on last month. The ship was very clean and the service was excellent. We did have a problem in our cabin 701, during the day there would be a periodic loud sound like someone dropped a large piece of furniture over our bed. Of course no one else had ever complained...but it was only during the day and that cabin was empty.
Emdee Posted February 26, 2019 #10 Share Posted February 26, 2019 We had heard that they were planning to build a small but luxurious ship in 2017. Havent heard anything more. The problem with the smaller luxurious ships like the Crystal Endeavour are the high costs which we probably couldnt afford. I understand that there is a huge waiting list for new ships. Genting bought their own shipyard to fulfill their needs.
