Where is the Fascination?

I have a cruise booked 11/22/2020 on the Fascination.

The three weeks prior are not available.

I'm curious. Could there be a three week charter?

Or is another dry dock planned?

.

Three long weeks sounds like a dry dock.

One week absences are the usual for a Corp. hiring the ship.

Three weeks seems a bit long for that possibility.

------------------------

On another tangent, please tell me that, by November of 2020.

Fascination is no longer on the S.Caribbean route.

Why?

Us islanders are tired of That Old Ship

and hope for a modern replacement asap.

What is your itinerary? What ports are you visiting?

I don’t know the answer, but Fascination was in dry dock last year, so I highly doubt it is scheduled for another dry dock so soon.

Came in here to say this. I remember watching the videos of the overhaul it got, right before my cruise.

Unless, it is entering the Sunshine class?

It's going to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, St. Lucia and Barbados.

this is my first time doing an intin like this and sailing on a ship this size.

I'm excited to try it.

.

It's a great itinerary! I've done it several times now

and don't mind doing it again and again -lol

What do you like most about it?

This is our first time visiting all of these ports.

.

Bear in mind I live on the island of Barbados....

Factor 1 - I can jump on the ship at Bridgetown Port

= 10 mins. from my house, literally! (= no flying, NO airports!)

Factor 2 - Best vacation bang for my/your buck!

Factor 3 - I know most of these islands already, so I get to know them even better

Factor 4 - Wife and I get to shop in Puerto Rico for neat stuff, on Sunday.

This is my favorite itin as well. You get lots of ports so that's exciting. We rode the sugar train in St Kitts Did a private resort at St Lucia and the rum distillery in Barbados. Lots of variety. You can see my review in my tag line below. I'd love to do this itin again!

Have done the run four times now..last one was two yrs ago on the Fascination.

in my opinion, the best of all cruises itineraries offered.. but this Feb rebooked the western to Roatan (did this last yr). w my  first time College Grad cruisers.. Would have loved to have shown them those Islands....But, For what I am paying to cruise.. I want a new, modern Ship..have been waiting now for over two yrs..and will continue to wait...or go to Royal Carib.  w my $ if it doesn't change....

Too small to enter the Sunshine class.  EM

it will never be a sunshine class. the ship will remain in the fantasy class

The sunshine class is what used to be the old Carnival Destiny class which was the Destiny (now the Sunshine), Triumph (renamed to Sunrise in a few months) and the Victory (renamed to the Radiance next year)

Great advice !    Just to add St Maarten still has massive damage and quite a few places are still not up to par yet. Maho Beach looks to be normal ,other than the enormous expanding they have done . Wow has this place grown from the Tiki hut it use to be .

Agreed.

The kind of $$$ one pays for a cruise...

I want a big modern ship, not a Fantasy class!

I've asked my local cruise booking people, how's it looking for the future

but we are stuck with Fascination for at least another year!

So don't be holdin' yer breath!

Why is it too small to be completely rehauled?

Carnival Fantasy:  70,367 tons; length 855 ft; beam 103 ft.

Carnival Triumph: 101,509 tons; length 893; beam 125.

Fantasy class has a much smaller hull and different design.  No place in the sunshine for them.  EM

We sailed the Fascination in June 2018. It was awesome. Sailed from PR, hit a new port every single day. We, like one of the PPs mentioned, did the train tour in St. Kitts, and the distillery in Barbados. It was a go-go-go trip, but we did another cruise in Dec 2018 and we find we like more ports rather than less.

I would take this sailing again.

What is the Sugar Train in St. Kitts?  It has been many years since I have been in St. Kitts, and at that time, we really didn't find much to do, but this sounds interesting to check out for our cruise, starting the end of March.

As for St. Lucia, I had used Cosol Tours, and we were so pleased with them, that we plan to do it again. 🙂

OK thanks for that. Nor the greatest news

but we must be thankful for what we have.

I have since read a few positive reviews about Fascination

a few of them saying she's the ideal vessel for this route...

so maybe she 's not so bad after all.
