Can you bring an extension cord with multiple plugs on it in the cabin?

I have this one and it works great. With 2 USB ports. Cruise 7 times a year on all cruise lines. Three holes on MSC last year.  Never had it taken.

Not allowed and not recommended.  Surge protectors can catch on fire aboard a ship.

Sorry to disagree with you. Last year used this on 3 RCI and 3 MSC cruises. It was plugged in and cabin person never removed it. 

What about hair curlers, dryers, coffe pots? They can cause a fire.

What you were able to take on board that went unnoticed and what is not allowed and is dangerous are two entirely different things.

 

Do some research.  The ship uses a different electrical system than we have at home and surge suppressors are dangerous and can cause a fire on board the ship.

We have this same one and took it on all our annual cruises. It was confiscated last March. They said it was a new rule.

Amazing how people manage to smuggle forbidden items onboard and then brag that there is no problem doing so. What’s wrong with these people?

What items are prohibited onboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship?

Weapons, illegal drugs, and other items that could interfere with the safe operation of the ship or the safe and secure environment of our guests and crew are prohibited. The following are examples of items that guests are not allowed to bring onboard. These and other similar items will be confiscated upon being found. Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, flammable liquids, explosives, and dangerous chemicals will not be returned.

Prohibited items:

• Firearms & Ammunition, including realistic replicas.
• Sharp Objects, including all knives and scissors. (Note: Personal grooming items such as safety razors are allowed. Scissors with blade length less than 4 inches are allowed.)
• Illegal Drugs & Substances
• Candles, Incense, Coffee Makers, Clothes Irons, Travel Steamers & Hot Plates. (Items that generate heat or produce an open flame. This includes heating pads, clothing irons, hotplates, candles, incense and any other item that may create a fire hazard. NOTE: The only exception to this policy are curling irons and hair straighteners. Matches and normal lighteners are allowed onboard. However ""torch lighters"" and novelty lighters that look like guns are not allowed onboard. Torch lighters emit a powerful concentrated flame, and therefore are prohibited.
• Hoverboards
• Illegal Drugs
• Martial Arts, Self Defense, and Sports Gear, including handcuffs, pepper spray, night sticks.
• Flammable Liquids and Explosives, including lighter fluid and fireworks.
• Hookahs & Water Hookah Pipes.
• HAM Radios
• Baby Monitors
• Electrical Extension Cords
• Dangerous Chemicals, including bleach and paint.
• Alcoholic Beverages (Note: On boarding day, each stateroom may bring up to two 750 ml bottles of wine or champagne. Guests who purchase alcohol bottles onboard, in a port-of-call, or bring more than the two permitted bottles on boarding day, will have their items safely stored by the ship. These bottles will be returned on the last day onboard for enjoyment once home. Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned.)

Surge protectors do not show up on this list but they ARE prohibited and in most cases will be confiscated.

The reason surge protectors are not allowed is that ship's power systems are different than shore power systems that the surge protectors are designed for. On land, one of the "legs" of the power system (one of the flat pins that carry current) is grounded to the ground pin (round one needed to protect you from electric shock) at your circuit breaker panel. Ships keep these two wires separate, so that stray current does not flow through the "ground" which is the ship's hull. These stray currents will create a mild battery effect in sea water, causing corrosion to the hull. Therefore, there are monitoring and alarm circuits onboard that measure the amount of current flowing in the hull, and surge protectors can set off these alarms.

Thanks for your welcoming comment. What's wrong with you? 

What about those who smoke? 

i wasn't bragging and do not smuggle anything on board.

Check the list and coffee makers are not allowed. Many times we have had coffee makers in our cabin supplied by the cruise line. Yet,  the same cruise line won't allow them on other cruises because they are a fire hazard.  

Maybe I'm not perfect like you think you are.
