paphosbabe Posted February 19, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2019 Hi all, We are fairly new to cruising and have only sailed once before on the Eclipse. We have a cruise booked for October on the Silly. We have cabin 7229 and I am now a little concerned it maybe noisy as very near the elevator. Anyone had any experience of this cabin. deliver42 Posted February 19, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2019 We've been by the elevators on other ships, and never heard enough noise to bother us.

You will actually be nowhere near the elevator as it is separated by a very good soundproof divider (floor to ceiling) and will have to walk towards 7239 or 7221 to be open to the elevator vestibule and even at that, they have glass doors separating the elevators and hallway. You are in a perfect location and will experience zero noise from the elevators. Your only worry will be a very noisy neighbor but the rooms are pretty soundproof so probably not even that.
justcrusn Posted February 19, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2019 We love being NEAR an elevator. Remember that almost everywhere you go on the ship starts at an elevator. There is enough separation that you will not hear the elevators themselves. Nor people getting on or off.
CulverCityCruisers Posted February 20, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2019 Only concern I would have is that smoking is on deck 5 port side and that is where you are located and could come right up to your location.

They will not be affected by the smoking area on deck 5 - 2 decks below them and towards the aft of their room!
CulverCityCruisers Posted February 20, 2019 #7 Share Posted February 20, 2019 Smoke travels and many times you could be in your cabin with the door open and still smell it if you are sensitive like we are. Smoke travels up and 2 decks is not that much. In addition remember not all days and evenings are at sea.
Luvcrusn Posted February 20, 2019 #8 Share Posted February 20, 2019 It will be quiet. We often stay near the elevators, but as was said, the elevators are not directly in the hallway with the rooms, but are separated by a wall and by electric doors. No worries. A great site for room information is www.cruisedeckplans.com. It's a TA website but has a free section with great deck plans for all the cruise lines and ships. You can also use the tool to drag one deck onto another to see what will be directly above and below you. There are also red and green stars in various places. If you hover over those it will give you additional information about those cabin locations.
4774Papa Posted February 20, 2019 #9 Share Posted February 20, 2019 Check the resources on cc boards where information is posted on M and S class cabins.
Tourist1292 Posted February 20, 2019 #10 Share Posted February 20, 2019 We booked 2 staterooms near the front elevator too. From the spreadsheet, there is no noise issue. 7229 is not on the spreadsheet, but the rooms next to it are okay but may hear music from the atrium sometimes.
