We did this cruise last March (2018), sort of - the swells from Nor'Easters the week before closed the Port of Nassau the day we were originally supposed to port there, so we had a sea day to start, then went to Princess Cays, and then Nassau. PC is definitely a beautiful place! With you being a wine gal I assume you didn't go to Alchemy Bar too much - the Mixologists there were great on both Liberty cruises we've taken, but undoubtedly there has probably been a change in staff, with other great mixologists taking their place(s). Glad you didn't end up missing any stops in the end! PC was a screensaver!!! The Alchemy Bar was quite popular I noticed, and people looked like they were having a great time! Loved the white jackets the Mixologists were wearing as well. Such a cool concept!

Fla Mike Posted February 26, 2019 #28 Share Posted February 26, 2019 Sounds like you had a great time, thanks for the great review. A question about your cabin... Did you notice any noise coming up from the lounges on deck 5? That cabin, and it's twin on the other side are open for the cruise we are looking at, but the loud music late at night would be a deal breaker. I'm VERY sensitive to noise, and a very light sleeper so I was worried about this. The answer is yes, we could hear the cheering ( not the music) from the venue on Deck 5. It was mainly between 10 - 11pm, perhaps 11:30pm at the very latest. I also sleep with ear plugs but wasn't woken up once during the night. Of course the nice thing is not having the flow of people constantly walking by your cabin say, if you were midship, which I actually find much more noisy. 6450 and the wrap aft balcony right next to it had a private door with their own little hallway, so it was VERY quiet the majority of the time! We got the cabin for such a steal and really loved the configuration of it. I'd do it again, even with the hour or so of cheering each night! We have learned to bring ear plugs many moons ago. One last question. Was there enough of an overhang on the balcony to let some shade peek through? It couldn't have been more perfect, and I loved having a proper chaise out there in addition to the chairs and table!

It went through security with our purses and hats without any questions! After seeing your post, I'm thinking perhaps that's not allowed anymore?! I'm vaguely remembering when we sailed the Triumph in 2017 they took our case of water at check-in! Maybe we got lucky?!! Thanks for reading along! Maybe too many other things they were on the lookout for, and this dropped off the priority list?
indygirl76 Posted February 26, 2019 #36 Share Posted February 26, 2019 Great review, thanks so much for sharing! One q re the Nassau excursion, if you have a minute? I'm guessing the answer is no, but was there any shade on the sailboat? It sounds great to me, but I'm ludicrously sun-sensitive, and have to have reliable shade all the time. xostacylee Posted February 26, 2019 #37 Share Posted February 26, 2019 (edited) Thank you so much for this review!! We're doing this exact cruise in September - can't wait! Did you end up doing any of the spa treatments? It's my first real vacation with my boyfriend (we've done weekend trips before) and thinking a couples spa treatment may be fun. Actually, the sailboat did have a really nice shaded area at the back of the boat. There were two benches and a table there that could probably sit 4+ people, and there was a full canopy above it providing shade!

We didn't end up doing any of the spa treatments in the end. I will say, it seems the biggest discounts/sales were for those that booked the day we boarded the ship. The spa treatment areas were quite small, and if I'm remembering correctly, there was only one small room that could accommodate a couple's treatment.

Rare sailawaybellaluna Posted March 2, 2019 Author #47 Share Posted March 2, 2019 I'm back! Ready to start sharing with you about our Day at Sea! Wow, did it start off with a bang! We decided to sleep in, since we stayed out late last night. Woke up and realized we had missed breakfast in most all of the venues. So I headed up to fill my French Press and just relax on the balcony for a bit. I was reading my book and drinking my coffee when I hear a terribly loud noise approaching. I look up and see this:
Rare sailawaybellaluna Posted March 2, 2019 Author #48 Share Posted March 2, 2019 It was so incredibly loud! The coast guard arrived and hovered above our cabin for roughly 35 - 40 minutes! It was very concerning to watch. Obviously someone was having a severe medical emergency. As if that news wasn't ominous enough, the skies turned dark and it started raining while they were hovering above. The Captain and NoNo the Cruise Director got on the speaker system to announce a passenger was needing to be evacuated from our ship, and to keep them in our thoughts and prayers. They said this wouldn't delay our arrival into Port Canaveral the following day. It seems they were stabilizing the passenger on the back of the Lido deck, and the doors to the deck had been locked. After about 25 minutes or so, the helicopter slowly hovered directly above Deck 9, where I assume a member of the coast guard jumped down from a rope (we saw him dropping the rope and preparing). Perhaps because the Liberty doesn't actually have a proper helipad. We felt very worried about the passenger, and it definitely was a dark start to the day. I can't imagine how scared they and their families must have felt! After about 40 minutes, the Coast Guard gave a thumbs up to the Bridge, and they RAPIDLY flew away! Quite an amazing process to witness.
The4Cruisers Posted March 3, 2019 #49 Share Posted March 3, 2019 (edited) Great review so far! We were on the same cruise. In fact, we were two doors from you in the Aft Ext'd Balcony 6454. On Princess Cay day, we were delayed leaving the port due to another medical emergency. We've been told it was an 8 year old boy that had suffered an appendix issue. Hopefully he and his family fared well. This was the first time we've witnessed a helo evacuation, for the other medical issue on the cruise. I can't commend the skills of these Coast Guard folks enough. Great job! The only trouble we had with the room was that we were located right above the comedy club. While the sounds (voices and music) were clearly noticeable, it didn't prevent us from sleeping. (We tend to sleep early and rise early these days.) Didn't notice any kind of smoke issue on the Promenade nor in the casino. Different strokes, I guess. We had great weather (lower 80's each day) and just the little bit of rain on the sea day. All in all, it was a great cruise. My only wish to improve it would be to have a P/D party on the 4 day cruises. sanmarcosman Posted March 3, 2019 #50 Share Posted March 3, 2019 You're right about Carnival's coffee. When served black I've seen ship maintenance crews use it to strip wallpaper and acid wash the pool tiles. 😉
