POA Scheduled Latitudes Events, and Meet & Greet

Does anyone have recent knowledge on the Pride of America on these subjects:

  1. Do Cruise Critic Meet and Greets work on this port intensive itinerary? If so, when is the best time to schedule one?
  2. When is the Latitude Exclusive Cocktail Party scheduled?
  3. Is there a Behind-The-Scenes Ship Tour for Latitude Platinum members? When is it scheduled?

Thanks for any insight you can share...

I arranged the meet and greet on our POA cruise in 2015. NCL event planner scheduled the day & time, it was held on

embarkation day at 3:30 right before the muster drill. We barely made it because we had a tour before boarding.

We only have 10 in our meet and greet group and I was worried that no one would show up but fortunately everyone did.

Don't know about the POA, but the Dawn with 9 ports in 10 days still managed the very well attended M&G. The slot pull followed but just happened to be at the same time as the latitude party. It was still a total success. I think you can easily work a good M&G into the schedule. We also had a lot of other events.

Thanks for the relevant information.

You confirmed the problem of finding a time slot to hold a Meet and Greet on a Hawaiian cruise. From the itinerary below, the possibilities are late afternoon/evening on departure day, or evening on day 4 or 5. Not good on a short 7 day cruise...

Day Land Tours And Cruise Ports Arrive Depart
Sat Honolulu, Oahu --- 7:00 PM
Sun Kahului, Maui 8:00 AM ---
Mon Kahului, Maui --- 6:00 PM
Tue Hilo, Hawaii 8:00 AM 6:00 PM
Wed Kona, Hawaii 7:00 AM 5:30 PM
Thu Nawiliwili, Kauai 8:00 AM ---
Fri Nawiliwili, Kauai --- 2:00 PM
Afternoon Cruise of the Napali Coast --- Overnight
Sat Honolulu, Oahu (Flight Departure) 7:00 AM ---

Anyone else have first hand experience with a Meet and Greet on a Hawaiian cruise?

It is going to be a tough sell doing a M & G sailing the Hawaiian waters.

So much to see -

So much to do -

So many conflicts with Shore Excursions -

I would try for the embarkation night around 9 pm

There is no Casino on the POA so no slot pull

Cabin crawl will be possible but the cabins on the POA are nothing to write home about

Try to have at least 20 signed up with 10 in actual attendance ***

*** you want to at least have the guests outnumbering the crew

IMO - do not schedule it after the second day of the cruise - wasted waning effort

there are no SEA days so no good time for a M & G gathering.

Regrets being negative on this as I started it is going to be a tough sell and that is not

to downplay the Roll Call which can still be used to get folks with common interests

I. E. Shore Excursions - Rent-a-Car to meet and plan other activities.

Play the Roll Call up and see if there is much interest in a M & G and when and where !

We did this cruise in March 2018.  We didn't participate in a M&G if there was one.  Our cruise was cut short by a day because of problems they had with the ship.  We left a day late.  There was a latitudes party as we were sailing out of Kauai.  It was pretty cool because it the front bow of the ship where the crew has their small pool which is the first time I have seen it done there.

Thanks for validating my thoughts and concerns about the window of opportunity in scheduling the M&G on the NCL Pride of America. Your negative feedback is real and it is what I am looking for.

I'll let our roll call know the challenge of getting it scheduled on day 1 sometime around the Safety DRill, Sail Away Activities, Welcome Aboard Variety Show, and Dinner.

We also attended the Latitudes party and had a great time. My Granddaughter really enjoyed herself as my daughter explained that we received an invitation to a "private party".  We have pictures of her and the Captain grinning ear to ear.

Is the Latitude Party is held on the Friday Afternoon Cruise of the Napali Coast, then?

It depends.

We had it, similar to quillercruisers reported earlier, as we left Kauai. I would have posted on this thread earlier if it wasn't that a couple of reports on this forum in the months following ours (last August) stated that they had theirs at different times.

It seems that it varies from cruise to cruise. As with almost everything like this, don't make your plans based on what others have reported as very few things are set in stone.

I would mention that there were issues for a while which stopped the POA doing the Napoli coast sail by, which may have been why there were reports of the latitudes party not happening when they left Kauai. Perhaps it was just because of that.

Our cruise was the first one doing the Napoli coast after a few weeks. The POA itenerary had been switched a few times including leaving Honolulu a day later. We were so happy to be able to enjoy the full cruise.
