First Cruise question

We are going on our first cruise on the conquest in June. i've learned a look around here so thanks everyone. i am a planner and have a question when we embark what is open. we are driving down from Orlando that morning so to there going to be some place eat on the ship or should we eat before we get onboard.

There will be lots of food.

 

What you can do once you board, is ask somebody for a "Fun Times" sheet. This is a flyer, that will actually be in your cabin once it is ready, but they have them all over the ship (like guest services desk). They also leave it in your cabin each evening listing the next day's activities. The flyer has a list of all activities on the ship and times. It also has a list of all bars and restaurants on the ship with their operating times and locations. Take a look at that. Typically, most people end up the Lido deck where you will find the buffets open as well as other food venues (Pizza, Guy's, deli. etc...)

Congrats on your first cruise you're going to love it. don't sweat the small stuff remember you're on vacation.

Bringing Liquor and Beverages Onboard - Embarkation

Guests are prohibited from bringing water, sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages onboard that are packaged in bottles.

A small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, juice, and milk) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought onboard on embarkation day and must be in the guest's carry-on luggage. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less per person.

Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board with the following exception - At the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day only, guests (21 years of age and older) may bring one 750 ml bottle of sealed/unopened wine or champagne per person in their carry-on luggage. All liquor, beer, other forms of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages outside of this exception are strictly prohibited in both carry-on and checked luggage and such items will be confiscated and discarded and no compensation will be provided.

 

you can also bring a small amount non alcoholic beverages on too that you keep in your room.

Download the Hub app. It can tell you, once you are on the ship,  minute by minute what food place and bar is open, also, activities available. It’s a Funtimes but not on paper.

No shortage of food!  Remember, in the Main Dining Room you can order as many different things as you want off the menu - don't be shy....you should see me on Lobster Night

The bars and lido will be open for food, likely some of the other spots on board too.  I liked the seafood shack on Conquest, it is an added cost place but worth at least one stop on your cruise imho.  The shrimp was excellent.  The shops / casino won't be open until you are underway and reach international waters.  Guest services desk will be open.  Make sure you check out what the cruise ship has to offer online, and then pick up a map once you are on board.

We usually spend the night precruise in our embarkation port so we eat breakfast locally before boarding the ship.  Once we are on the ship our first stop is the lido buffet.  Then we go check out the ship.  Enjoy your first cruise!

Absolutely true!  Just to clarify for the OP who is a new cruiser, MDR is not open for lunch on embarkation day.
