Help Printing Boarding Pass?

We're experienced cruisers but new to Holland America.  We've been reading and learning much on this board, but can't find any posts about the problem we're having.    We've completed all of our online check-in for our April 3 cruise and reached the point where we're trying to print our boarding passes.    When I click on 'print boarding pass' , then try to open or save the download, I'm not having any luck at all.    My downloads show an item titled Book2.HollandAmerica.com, a 2490 kb document; the file type shows as simply "Text".    Neither "Open" or "Save" works to actually see the document - other than when I tried "Open With" - Notepad, then I get a full page of what looks like Chinese symbols.  We've never had this problem with any other downloads of cruise paperwork.   Has anyone else had a similar problem?   If so, we'd really appreciate information on how you solved it?    As an alternative, can I ask my TA to have HAL email me the boarding passes?

Do you have an adblocker installed?  Some adblockers don't play nice with HAL website.  If so, you will need to disable it to print things.

Your TA should be able to print the boarding passes.  That's one of the things they can do.

Also...we were able to download and print luggage tags just fine - that came in as a PDF file.   Shouldn't the boarding pass be the same format?

No one knows why the HAL website may or may not function .... probably not even their "IT specialists" 😉

Update - finally able to print boarding documents by switching to Internet Explorer.   Apparently HAL hasn't been able to make their programs work with Microsoft computers and the Edge programs.   It is pretty annoying to have to initialize the IE system solely to print one document - hope the onboard experience is much better than the online one!

For reasons I do not know, if I use Edge (my default browser) I cannot print the boarding pass. When I switch to Chrome, I can. Makes no sense but it works so I do it.

I work for a school district help desk and we see this daily, some of our programs only work on Safari and IE and some only on Chrome and some only on Firefox...!  Crazy is what that is!  Edge isn't being used much in the district.  But my first suggestion is always try a different web browser which I see you guys are all saying too!  Gotta love computers!
