Need advice from anyone that has brought a fan from home before, Did they take it? Does it need to be a certain type? I did call and got conflicting reports from RC. I asked for special needs and they said it didn't fit under the criteria husband has asthma the fan does help with his breathing at night, 1 of the RC specialist said to bring one from home. We leave this Friday so please share your experiences.         Thank You janet

If you get an RCI phone representative telling you to bring your own, have them put that in writing.  It will go a long way if you have to go to the "naughty room"  because they have flagged your luggage.

You may still be denied your fan depending on the condition of your fan.  We've had to have a safety officer sign off after inspecting our new fan.  We have heard many many excuses (some really odd) from security why our fan is not permitted.  One thing we've found is the older ships staff are more restrictive even though I've pointed out that fans are not on their restricted list.

Some have no difficulty bringing one, we have had occasional difficulty but then again, we cruise a lot.

I brought a fan, no problem. They didn't take it, and the room steward noticed and brought an extension cord for it.

We bring a fan every cruise.  We have one that folds pretty flat from Walmart.  It runs on batteries or electrical.  I pack the fan in one suitcase, and the power cord in another.  Never any problems.

Mr. Pcur  aka Meatlocker needs his cool room to sleep in!

I have done it both ways, contacted special services to have one placed in my cabin and I have brought one along.  If we bring a fan we bring a full-sized box fan and a copy of the email (from special services) saying that the fans are allowed.
