Cabin switch on Guaranteed

Just curious if I am able to switch cabins in the same category once assigned on a guarantee?  I just called and the agent told me there would be a charge even within the  same category.  I am 30 days out and after final payment.  The price  has went down considerably since I booked however.   Cheers!

If you booked under US/Canadian rules, Royal normally lets you change your assigned guarantee stateroom to any other available stateroom in the same exact category to which you have been assigned.

Thank you!  I called and the rep was an international one.  He said the system wouldn't let him change rooms unless there was a added charge.  I booked on the US site online.  Frustrating .  Did anyone who was successful doing this use  the main customer service number?

You are from Colorado I assume from your profile.  You should definitely be able to change cabins within the same category with a guarantee.  I've done this several times.  If you're a C&A member try calling the C&A desk.  Their reps tend to be a little more knowledgeable.  If not call the main number and if they're unable to help you ask to speak to a supervisor.

When you call back, do not use the word "guarantee".  Just ask to change to a specific stateroom that you have already confirmed is available.
