Boarding has always been quite orderly by categories in our past cruises..but on EDGE, while they tried that...it was hard to control.  Probably because all groups were seated together rather than by Cap Club level.or Cabin Class.

No need  to be the first ones on...but not interested in being  trampled.  X needs more staff to help the process.

We just board at our leisure.  No stress.  Until we sailed on Edge we had to take our carry-on bags with us everywhere on the ship until 1PM when they let us in the cabins.  On Edge we could drop them off in our cabins right away which was very nice.

Your Aqua status will give you a higher priority on boarding as opposed to your Select status.

Higher priority checking in, I do not think that has anything to do with boarding. Once you check in you just go walk on the ship.

Many times people have checked in before the ship is ready for boarding.

Most cruise lines, if you check in before boarding begins, you will sit there till they are ready. Then yes, from the priority lounge you will be notified to board first.

That's why it's called priority check-in.
