Stockholm Hotels

We are staying for a couple of nights in Stockholm post cruise next year. Where would be the best area of the city to stay? Also I would like some recommendations for a good value hotel.

Thank you!

I would recommend Southern Norrmalm and western Östermalm since you will be close to most things.
Hotels here I have stayed at:

Scandic no 53 (called Rica Kungsgatan then, many years ago).
Scandic Klara (called Rica Slöjdgatan thenmany years ago).
Elite Hotel Stockholm Plaza ( last year)
Radisson Blu Royal Viking (a month ago)

Rex Hotel (many years ago).

These are of various standards / price levels but I haven't any complaints against any of them.
Both Stockholm Plaza and Radisson are very fine hotels. Radisson is tad expensive due it's location
next to the central station/subway central/commuter train station and it generally being  a very nice hotel.
All of them have had nice breakfast and etc.

These are just a few hotels. There are allot more good hotels in Stockholm though.

We stayed at Freys Hotel last month for two nights after our cruise. Great location across from Stockholm Central Station and within walking distance of many attractions, restaurants, and shopping.  Rooms are a bit small but the rate is great!  The staff is outstanding!!

We just got back and stayed at the Hilton. It's right across the river and within walking distance of the old town. great location. Don't know about the rates, as we used points.

We stayed at Hotel Rival in Sodermalm in June of 2017 and will be staying there again this coming September.  Well-located, within walking distance of Gamla Stan, ferry terminal, etc.  Fantastic breakfast included.
