You should get cash on a debit card (preferably one with no foreign transaction fee), not a credit card.

I shudder to think of what that advance actually costs.  Between the basic fee and then the interest which begins the minute the money comes out and is I believe at least 30%, a $100 equivalent cash advance could end up costing $50.  😱

You are very mistaken.  I've never told anyone to do that.  Go back and read this thread again, and you'll see that I haven't even posted on it until I suggested taking a cash advance on a credit card would be costly in post # 27.
