Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted July 30, 2019 Author #505 Share Posted July 30, 2019 We heard our first pipes as soon as we were off the ship and they wouldn't be the last We had a great aft view of the Zuiderdam The dock's gift shop Matthew was waiting for us at the street Our first stop was a lookout beside the road where we saw some Scotch Brooms . We saw a lot of these yellow flowers in Chile a few months ago . It is considered to be an invasive species by some . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cytisus_scoparius The land was fairly clear of trees near the road

Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted July 31, 2019 Author #514 Share Posted July 31, 2019 It was really nice to have few people here It's a short walk on a ramp down to the falls The overlook It was sure nice to see trees again since Iceland has so few Not as dramatic or as crowded as Iceland's waterfalls , we found this one to be very relaxing We saw these Foxglove flowers in Chile also . Very pretty to look at but they produce the heart drug Digitalis .

Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted July 31, 2019 Author #517 Share Posted July 31, 2019 (edited) Our next stop was on Loch Shin to hear about the "Wee Hoose"which is best explained in the video https://www.scotsman.com/news-2-15012/the-true-story-of-the-wee-hoose-on-the-loch-1-4578454 When I saw the bird sitting on it I thought of it as a wee bird house . There some wee flowers growing there Edited July 31, 2019 by scubacruiserx2
Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted July 31, 2019 Author #518 Share Posted July 31, 2019 I'm not sure where we stopped next except to enjoy scenery and wildlife With the open shallow area it was a good place for birds to fish and where they could see you approaching Unless they were busy

Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted August 1, 2019 Author #525 Share Posted August 1, 2019 We saw flowers like these in Chile But not these There was a group of people seated in the garden to learn about and watch a demonstration of Falconry http://www.dunrobincastle.co.uk/garden.html#falconry After showing and teaching about the Falcon he unmasked the bird and sent it flying In a dive the Peregrine Falcon is the fastest animal in the world attaining speeds of 240 mph ! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peregrine_falcon The bird circled overhead before diving on a target that the handler would swing around his head at the end of a rope . The bird near caught the target until he was allowed to and I never got a clear photo of the bird when he was flying . This one is take from the Dunrobin's Castle's website .
