Casino on celebrity equinox, slots and tables and any info please

Could anyone give me some info on the casino on the celebrity equinox as of this year?

How loose or tight are the slots? Any big wins? And idea on payout percentage? Is it tighter than vegas?

What about the tables... do they have jackpots on the tables? Or what bonus bets do they have?

For example, the 3 card poker... do they have the 6 card poker bonus? (Best 5 cards from yours and dealers hand) and is there a growing jackpot for royal flush for example, or is it a set 5000/1?

Same question for the other types of poker games... ultimate texas holden/ let it ride?

Any info would be appreciated as i see alot of old info for the casinos but not alot of info since the cruise casino boom... (where they are loosening up the casinos to attract more players)

Thanks

Just off the Equinox a week ago.  I do not play tables.  There were a lot of tournaments for tables and some for slots.  Never saw 6 card.

I found the casino to be abysmal.  I would never cruise this ship again for the same reason.  I play slots and video poker.  Slots were old and "unheard of".  None of the new exciting games.  It was just a place to dump money IMHO.

So I played video poker all week.  I did not do well but some others did.  Don't know what they spent but they were winning.  As on all ships I have been on, pay tables were awful.

Slots were tight, tight.  They do not announce jackpots and I did see a handpay or two.

Drink service was slow or non existent.  You were supposed to be actively playing to get a drink so if you went up to the bar they questioned you.  I told them no one came by so I did get a drink but it was awkward.

Casino was unfriendly and personnel not very visible.

I am on the Solstice in August and would cancel it if I could for this reason.  But I cannot so I will see but I do not anticipate anything better.

I know you said you didn't play tables, but did you notice how many craps tables they had, much interest?  How about Blackjack?  Any idea on the min/max bet at each?  IF you didn't notice, I get it.  I'll find out in Sept.

😞 its not sounding positive. I usually play a lot of machines and some tables, but if the machines are so tiggt and old... it makes more sense playing mainly tables as the luck is random. I had heard the machines were old but i was hoping that the machines would have been updated when they recently did the 500mil refurb.

So any more info to do with the tables would be great. Im used to the casinos only in vegas so im guessing its not going to live up to that expectations.

Thanks for the replies so far, all have been helpful

Slot machines are random also.

I am 7 stars with Caesars/Harrahs and I rarely play on all the Celebrity ships, like a black hole, just sucks your money in.

We were under the impression they were switching out machines with the revolution but I guess not.

Equinox got an abbreviated upgrade due to dry dock location being changed to over seas...

and the number mentioned above was for the entire fleet.

A hot dice table 2-3 times on my 11 day will suit me just fine. 🙂

Sorry, when i say random, i mean not programmed to eat your money. I have a reasonable understanding of how the slots apparently work with a 'random number generator chip' kind of logic but when a machine has an average payout of 90-95 percent its hard enough to catch a lucky hit... but by the sound of what im hearing, these machines may be closer to 75%-80% which is basically just a slow bankroll decline... might as well be feeding the coin push machine.

Where as the tables, when i say random, i mean... we know the odds, we know the reasonable house edge... its just down to the luck of the cards. If i gamble, i like to have a chance of hitting decent, although i appreciate i will usually lose. Im hoping there are some kind of table jackpots to give me that chance.

I travel from uk to vegas so i dont come over enough to get to 7 star, but i have been diamond for total rewards for years. You can probably get these cruises comped if you dont already... if thats something you would want to look into, let me know

You are right I could get freebies but quite frankly with the odds on the slots on Celebrity ships, its just not worth it and this is after many cruises.

  • 2 months later...

Just back from this cruise so thought i would answer my own questions to hopefully help future cruisers...

   1.  How loose or tight are the slots? Any big wins? And idea on payout percentage? Is it tighter than vegas?

I found the slots were more reasonable than expected. I would say tighter than vegas, but not much. I had 2 big wins on them, one for about 1k but this was off a $10 bet on wonder 4 machine (so kind of 4 x $2.50 bets in one spin). The other a 2.5k jackpot on a $8.88 bet.

They don't have jackpots on tables and they have a 5k win limit per bet, so this means if you hit the royal flush on texas holdem, which should pay out 500/1, you would only get 5k max even if you had over the $10 bet on it. So it means you are shooting yourself in the foot by betting more than $10 on this bet.

Three card poker, yes they do have the bonus bet for 6 card, paying up to 1000/1 for a royal flush, again, hitting the royal flush on this with a bet bigger than $5 would still only pay out $5000, its a shame because its my only gripe about the tables.

They do not have a growing/ accumulating jackpot on the tables as all. (Also don't have any massive growing jackpots on slots either like vegas would have, i think between 10-20k was the most i seen)

   3. Same question for the other types of poker games... ultimate texas holden/ let it ride?

The table games i can confirm are:

3 card poker, with 6 card bonus

Texas hold'em poker with the usual bets

blackjack with '20 total side bet'

Roulette.

Also they had player v player hold'em tourneys on sea days, 3 a day, usually 7-9 player per one, these are basically crapshoots as 100-200 blinds start with 2k starting stack and blinds rise every 10 mins.

They advertised cash games but they never did develop due to no players.

Other bits i would say:

Drinks where free when playing, but i never was offered a drink when playing on a machine... but was constantly offered drinks when playing on the tables.... to many drinks that it helped me lose more money! 🙂

Dealers where friendly and decent enough, no complaints about any of the staff.

Any other questions, feel free to ask

Yeah, the captive audience like people stuck at the las vegas airport.  No competition and a big profit center.

Slots on most cruise ships are like putting money in the toilet and flushing, and repeat.  I've had maybe just 6 "jackpots" in 50+ cruises, so I lose most of the time.

However, I don't see what the value is in playing "new" machines.  I laugh when coins are flying in the overhead display and "winner" is flashing for a 2079 credit hit on a penny machine.  That's $20.79, nothing to get excited about at all.

The other reason I don't like some of the newer machines is that the max bet can be $8.80 on a penny machine.  Some of the new dollar machines have a $9 or larger max bet.  Give me an older dollar, 50 cent or quarter machine with max bet set at 3 coins and I'm happy.  If it has actual reels instead of just a video display, I'm ecstatic!

Celebrity casinos are very unlikely to produce winners in my opinion. I bet slots were set to less than 80% payout. To the extent possible, table games had crappy odds. Things like even money on blackjacks or poor odds bonus plays are rampant. The best chance of winning was probably on the craps table sticking with a basic strategy.
