Yes, we did vlog our trip through the Southwest. I am almost complete with the cruise vlogs and then have Susan’s Bday weekend, followed by our trip to the Southwest.

 

work should be calming down after Labor Day, which means I should have more time. I will be going on a cruise, end of September, So that might influence everything in terms of timing.

 

The southwest trip will be on my YouTube channel as it was not a cruise.

         Thank you for posting photos of the Freedom Tower and the 9/11 Museum.

We lost several neighbors and a priest,Father Judge, who was assigned to St. Francis of Assisi  Church and responded to an emergency call answered by the firefighters from across the street from the church when the planes attacked the World Trade Center.

Although eight years have passed, we still do not feel able to visit the site,even though we go into the City often.

            We have some history with the WTC as both my father and I had business with different NYC agencies that were located in the buildings. Both he and I made many visits to those buildings in the late ‘70 s and the 80’s.I definitely recall the views from the top floor observation deck that are now available to visitors in the new building. Views from the offices in the building were interesting as well. I remember watching the ferry traffic from a high window while attending meetings in a board room in one of the offices there.

              Also, my DH and I recall passing the Twin Towers while on the QE2 ,sailing out of the harbor on the way to Southampton,England. This was in August ,2011.

I have photos taken from that sailaway. It seems a bit unreal to look at those photos and think  that less than a month later the towers would crumble causing so much destruction and loss.

            It is a sign of tenacity and strength of people in NYC and the country that the destruction was cleared away and a fitting memorial to that tragic event was built.

I know the 2001 events affected those in the greater New York City area a whole lot more than me living on the west coast in Washington State. I am glad a fitting memorial was created for this tragedy. Thank you for sharing your memories of the buildings and I am sorry for the loss of your neighbors and Father Judge. 

 

We need to remember in times like today, when we are so blatantly separated by political views, that we can come together. We can care about our fellow citizens. post September 11th, was a time we came together as Americans. We need to do that again.

 

One note I forgot to add when posting the photos, was our guide had to change how she talked about the events of September 11th, due to over half of our guided tour group being under the age of 18. Over half of our group of 30 was not alive when the towers fell. She did an excellent job adapting to it though.

I thank you for your review and the especially poignant description of the 911 memorial.  I live in northern New Jersey, and will never forget the anguish  of that day. I have yet to cross the river and visit the site, it is still way too painful. 

On my cruises out of NYC since, all I can do is cry as we pass the Freedom Tower remembering what was once there.

          After posting this thank you, I realized that I wrote the number of years that have passed since 9/11 and the date of the QE2 voyage incorrectly.

Of course,it has been eighteen years s since the tragedy and the date of the QE2 voyage as in August 2001.

The next day, we left Trace and Maria's house and headed North. We passed through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts heading into Vermont.

We turned off on I-93 heading to the Southeast.

 

 

 

 

 

We crossed into New Hampshire.

Twin Mountains is on the west side of Mt. Washington. The Mount Washington Cog Railroad departs from around here.

 

  

 

We turned and headed North to go around the top of Mt. Washington to reach the east side of the mountain.

Your pictures of NYC are fantastic.  Do you feel the 9/11 museum tour is a must or could it be done on your own?  The memorial doesn’t require tickets, right?  Did you purchase the One World Observatory tickets ahead of time?

Museum tour - I felt it was benificial to be on the guided tour just for the extra layer of information that they could provide. I believe there was a self audio tour available, but I am not positive on that. The guided tour also puts you in a separate line for security into the museum. Depending on time of year, day of week, time of day and a whole slew of factors, the line to get in could be long. Weigh the time you have to visit, the potential security wait, and the cost difference to find out what works for you and your group.

One world observatory - Yes, we purchased them ahead of time. We had the premium ones too. This was to expedite security too. Plus you got a few bonus things as well. Worth the extra cost? Not really, but lines were light at the time of entry. 

 

we chose the expedited options due to the tight time frame we were operating under. We couldn’t afford to give up an hour waiting in line for security. Weigh your time, finances, and schedule to determine what works for you.

I went off to watch the Mt. Washington Cog Railway. The steam engine was just arriving at the summit.

Off the mountain, we start heading for Hampton Beach, NH.

 

 

I didn't take many more pictures due to the fact, it had been a long day. 

 

We did have a great BBQ dinner and got to the beach about 9pm. We found a low dollar casino and played blackjack for a while. Trace, Susan, and myself all walked out with more than we came in with!
