Bed Set Up

When I reserved our cruise they did not ask me how I wanted our bed set up (together or apart). Other cruise lines always ask that when you book. How do I let them know ahead of time? Can you do it during online check in?

I don't believe that there is an online method to request this.

On board - - -

Certainly when you first meet your cabin attendant and need the bed split just tell him so !

It is about 5-10 minute job to do it. If not needed right away it is usually done before or as the turn-down service

while you are having dinner and after dinner drink maybe a show a stop at the casino.

If you have a medical apparatus that needs to be deployed tell your cabin attendant of that right a way so the

electrical cords connections can be made.

All in all not a big deal  - ONLY exception if in a Suite with a KING bed - beds can not be split.

I think they also try to make their best guess based on what passenger information they have. For example when I traveled with my husband they were set up as a queen. When I traveled with my son they are already set up as twins. Guessing maybe they saw a female and a male and such distinctly different ages they assumed it was a parent & child (he was only 18).

You might be on to something here - but I have heard that if the former occupants had the beds split it was just as easy

to leave it that way and join them if necessary.

For the rest of the story ask your cabin attendant what the policy is ?

They usually just leave it "as is" and adjust if needed.

If there is a request made before boarding, it's probably 50/50 if the steward even gets the message.

You can call them and request what set up you want or you can do it when you meet your cabin steward. It is an easy request so the cabin stewards are fine with changing the set up if you want. Normally there will be one bed unless there has been a request for 2 singles.

I don't know how you booked your cruise but a good travel agent would have asked you how you wanted the beds.

Waiting until you board can just add more work to an overworked cabin steward; so, just take a few minutes to call your booking agent and get it set up ahead of time.

You can’t do it ahead of time. They make an effort to guess what you want based on things like age and gender, but if it’s nit right for you they will fix it when you are on board.

While a TA might ask, there is no way for them to communicate that with NCL

In my experience (17 cruises) my travel agent has always been able to communicate whatever I needed with NCL. It is far easier to have her communicate than for me to be on the phone for an extended period. Never a problem.

I have also found this to be true, even in those instances where the online check in lets you specify.

The steward's will just leave it the way it was previously, and adjust when the new occupants ask for it adjusted.

That way, they don't waste time changing it, only to be later requested to change it the other way.
