I booked a suite for my upcoming Jewel cruise. I know I don't have Haven benefits but could someone tell me what benefits I will get with the SF - suite.

We had a suite on the Gem and pretty sure we did have a butler though never used him.

we had an SC and friends had SE  you have priority boarding,  breakfast  in private dinning room, butler and concierge to address any needs like reservation .

special seating for the shows, priority getting to the head of the line on tours.  

 

you can eat in your room   butler will serve you.     We were also escorted off at disembarking.

A few things in addition to what has been mentioned above.  You will also be able to make dining reservations on line 130 days before your cruise (non-suites are 120).  And not long before you sail, you will either be contacted by, or can contact, the pre-cruise concierge to make certain in-cabin requests (e.g., types of pillows).  Some folks report it being hit or miss whether those requests make it to the ship or not; don't worry if they don't, your cabin attendant or butler will sort it all out quickly.

 

Besides breakfast, you can also have lunch in the "suite dining room." On the Jewel-class ships, since there is no dedicated dining room for suites, these meals are usually served in Moderno or Cagney's (not their menu, just the space).  If you want a sit-down breakfast and would like to avoid the crowds in the buffet, this is a very nice way to start the day.  

 

In terms of responsibilities as between the butler and the concierge, if you have an in-room request, that's for the butler.   Outside your suite (e.g., getting help with dining reservations), that's the concierge.    We are not high maintenance folks, but if you have a problem with something,  or a special request, the butler and concierge can usually help.    The concierge will give you his/her phone number; also, he/she typically will "hang out" during part of breakfast or lunch in the "suite dining room."    Also, in ports, if you want to get off the ship quickly (e.g., you have a private shore excursion scheduled), the concierge will escort you down and past any line at the gangway.   

Also, in case you are not aware, the butler and concierge are not part of the DSC pool.  So it's a good idea to tip them; the amount is up to you of course, and, imho, should increase if you use them a good deal.

I have wondered about the differences between suites and Haven on refurbished ships.  So would it be correct to say that the only difference for a suite is not having access to haven courtyard?  I wasn't aware that suites were entitled to Moderno for breakfast/ lunch.

You will have everything that a Haven Suite has except access to the Haven area. On the larger ships all suites have access to a much larger Haven area and the Haven Restaurant. You will be able to eat breakfast and lunch in Modernaro or Cagney's. 

We have sailed in both SF and SC category suites when we took my MIL - we also have one for our upcoming 21 day Panama Canal cruise this Jan.

Right.  Plus around $1,000 pp more for Haven on Jewel Class ships give or take.

Unless this has been dropped you also have fresh flowers in your cabin, bowl of fresh fruit and platter of snacks every afternoon. Personally i love the SF suites. Doubt i will be traveling in the haven .

The NCL caption under suites only states that butler service is provided. The caption doesn't state that all haven perks are included - except haven courtyard access. So I had assumed everything else was eliminated. Thank you for enlightening me.

There seems to be some changes in 2020 as far as Haven vs non haven suites that people have found but nothing official.  As of today, Jewel class suites and haven suite technically get same perks except courtyard.

 

On Jewel class, there are rooms like the two bedroom which are nearly identical but the Haven version will run roughly $1000 more pp than the other suite.

One more thing to add here is that NCL plans on changing some of the perks of these suites in the far future - fall 2020; If you look at the deck plans for fall 2020 sailings these suites all have different categories. The old SF on deck 10 with the larger balconies are now in a category by themselves - along with the two slightly larger SE suites on decks 9 and 10. There is also a hint that butler service to the old SFs on decks 8 and 9 will be eliminated;  Maybe creating a concierge class like on the Joy.

 

Of course they have announced this way ahead of time - so as the time for implementation grows closer NCL might decide to change course again.

I've been reading similar things.  Thanks for the deck plan info.   Looking at the Jade's deck plans (the only ones I've checked), there will actually be four different Penthouse categories created out of the two existing SF and SE categories.   The change date is Nov. 20, 2020.  For cruises departing after that date, the former aft-facing SF Penthouse suites on decks 8 and 9 are shown in a category called SN, and the former SF suites on deck 10 are called SM.   And what are now the SE forward-facing Penthouses on decks 9 and 10 will be called SF, except for 10000 and 10500 [which have larger interiors] -- they will be in a category called SD.  

 

That's really carving up those cabin categories.  It certainly will be interesting to see how NCL handles the perks and pricing.

You can guarantee that the deck 10 suites will go up in price as well as the larger fwd suites. I think somebody realized that those suites sell out first on those ships and should have a higher price The only way to do it is to make them into a new category.

I agree. Though some folks seem to prefer the deck 9 forward-facing suites with their huge balconies, rather than the two in the center of deck 10 with the bigger interiors (and still pretty big balconies). These will be two different categories now.

I am glad I have already booked my deck 10 aft PH's through 4/21 before they do change and increase those.
