Can the $50 shore excursion credit be used for transfers when disembarking the ship to get to the airport? If so, can I book them ahead of time with the credit or do I need to wait until I'm on the ship?

Only if it includes some kind of tour. Like a hop on hop off. Anything showing on your online account for excursions for debarkation day should qualify.

But not just a straight transfer I guess?

Re: pre-payment of excursions.  I personally cannot think of any reason to pre-pay for excursions.  If you book on-line, you are giving your money to NCL so they can collect interest, plus any interest you are paying to your credit card because you want to pay over time.  Then there is the issue of OBC - depending on how you travel, you could run the risk of having more OBC than expenses. If you change your plans, there are no issues with refunds if you haven't pre-paid.

Call and book your excursions - they will apply any discounts and tell you what your final cost will be.  Then make monthly payments to yourself (or pre-pay your credit card) if your plan is to save for your excursions.

We always book our excursions online right after we book our cruise as dh does not want a large cc bill waiting for us after our vacation.  The few cents we "lose" by having NCL collect interest on our money is pretty meaningless, and we always pay our cc bills on time.  We also prepay our gratuities.  If we have any obc left over (and it usually happens) we get it back as long as it is "refundable" obc.  Just make sure what is "refundable" and "non-refundable."  If non-refundable make sure you spend it on the ship, or you lose it.

I also pre pay because most of the time this charge will get me to the next level NCL Credit Card OBC reward (lousy credit card but if used correctly it does have a small perk).  I pay the charge of immediately so there is zero additional interest charged to me.

I've never walked off the ship with OBC left on the table..... redeeming it via the casino trick is always an option if you can't spend it all

I prepay with my debit card so there is no interest. And I don’t have to worry about a bunch of authorizations on my credit card especially if I’m going back to back or on a land trip after the cruise.

I have have always gotten an overage of OBC from prepaid excursions refunded back if I didn’t use it on cruise next or spa services.

Have never prepaid until last night - cruise leaves Saturday so not giving NCL much time with my money!  No time on the phone, latitudes discount correctly applied automatically and with the first whole week of the cruise non stop ports I certainly don't want to be standing in line embarkation day for shorex.  Very pleased not only how well it worked, with immediate confirmation, but the $ credit really kicked in.

Now better start packing!

So the shore excursion credit is good for a Villa on GSC too?

Lets say it costs 600 and I am platinum...which means I get a 10% discount... 540...minus 50 credit...$490 total for a villa...5 persons...nice deal, right?

I also prefer to prepay for excursions (as well as the day) so I don't get Hit with a large amount on the first night.  I always fund my account with cash, but I usually don't have to actually put any money down because I'm starting out with$50 OBC then getting$50 OBC for each port.  My next cruise has 8 ports, so I'll end up with $450 in OBC.  I can use that to get 4 cruise next certificates.  I would just need to pay $50 in cash to go with the OBC.
