RAS4331 Posted December 2, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2019 Hello, we're leaving on Holland America from Ft. Lauderdale. We'll get a taxi or Uber from our nearby hotel. Is it like going to the airport -- will we just ask to get dropped off at the Holland America terminal? I imagine that the cruise port is huge, and I don't want to wander around like a lost soul. Any tips for "arriving at port" are appreciated by this first-timer! 🙂
WisconsinFan Posted December 2, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2019 When you call your Uber you will put in your destination. If you don't know the terminal don't worry. Port Everglades has a big board as you drive up listing the ship and the terminal that you should arrive at. Have your documents in hand as you will need to present them as you enter the port (passport, birth certificate). When you arrive at the terminal there will be porters on hand to handle your luggage. You go inside where directed and go through the check in process in the terminal. Have fun!
leaveitallbehind Posted December 2, 2019 #3 Share Posted December 2, 2019 (edited) Fort Lauderdale port, which is known as Port Everglades, is a large port. There are a number of different terminals and unlike an airport, they are not connected. But HAL uses Terminal 26 in Port Everglades, which your cruise documents will likely indicate as well. Also, your Uber or taxi driver (I prefer Uber) will know. Edited December 2, 2019 by leaveitallbehind

cb at sea Posted December 3, 2019 #5 Share Posted December 3, 2019 Yes...tell your driver the ship, and they will take you there. Ships are quite visible....they aren't small, like planes! No worries! You will go thru security, but it's not as invasive as the airlines.
wheezedr Posted December 3, 2019 #6 Share Posted December 3, 2019 Do have your documents, passport, boarding pass in hand and ready to show as you enter the port. This is one port that really enforces that.
ryndam Posted December 3, 2019 #7 Share Posted December 3, 2019 This website also gives very good information about the individual terminals at Port Everglades. https://www.porteverglades.net/cruising/cruise-terminals/
