lp312 Posted January 15, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2020 Hi there! Will be traveling on Harmony of the Seas in Feb. We will be with our young kids and some additional family. What is the best way to keep in touch with each other while on the boat? Thanks!
Clarea Posted January 15, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2020 You can use the RCI App. I believe there is a free texting function that is operational on Harmony.

Thank you! Do you know if we have to do anything special to message people in other cabins?

The app does not message staterooms, it messages other phones using the same app. So everyone you want to message must download and install the app on their phones. Someone else will see this and provide details on how you identify the other phones to message.
Rare h20skibum Posted January 15, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 15, 2020 We are just off the Celebrity Equinox, one of Royal’s sister ships. They use the same app, as the RCI app, and this ship had the texting feature. First, the app does not give you a chime or vibration to notify you that you have received a message. The app showed a red bubble when there is an unread message. To add others, all we had to do was type their first and last names in the texting section of the app, and send them an invite. Once they accepted, they were added to contacts you could text. Since we had the internet package, it was easier for us to use iMessage. Our friends are android users, so they would message us on the app. Often, we wouldn’t see their messages until an hour later, because we don’t constantly check the app.
DesireeC03 Posted January 15, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 15, 2020 we used dry erase boards on our doors to leave messages with one another as well as periodic meeting times I have also seen families using walkie talkies we don't use internet on the ship so texting is not an option - if Harmony is doing the free texting with the RCI app- go for that (but have back ups)

sburrus4 Posted January 16, 2020 #12 Share Posted January 16, 2020 If you have the Internet package, you could use iMessage (or Facebook messenger if android users).
