kcdd Posted January 24, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2020 We will be taking the Amtrak from Seattle to Vancouver. We arrive the day before our cruise leaves from Vancouver. Would appreciate any advice regarding travel from train station to our downtown Vancouver hotel. Thanks.
CruiserBruce Posted January 24, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2020 Might want to look on the West Coast Departures board, where Seattle and Vancouver are commonly discussed.
Northern Aurora Posted January 24, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2020 Several years ago we found it easiest to take a cab from the train station to our downtown Vancouver hotel.

Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted January 24, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 24, 2020 When you are making your Amtrak reservations, please beware that there is a Vancouver WA (south of Seattle), and a Vancouver BC, Canada that is served by Amtrak. The two cities are about 300 miles apart, but folks who don't live in the PNW may not realize that there are two Vancouver cities. It does happen that folks will book the wrong train. So when you book, please make sure that you are booking Vancouver, BC Canada.

I will check again but I think we have the correct train reservation. Wouldn't that be an awful and rude awakening?! YIKES!
disneyochem Posted January 25, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 25, 2020 We frequently take Amtrak to Vancouver for cruises and always have been able to get a cab right in front of the station. Never had to wait but we usually don’t check baggage so we’re first off the train.

LoriPhil Posted February 15, 2020 #14 Share Posted February 15, 2020 We book first class tickets as you board first and more critically, get priority getting off the train for quicker access to luggage, getting through customs and snagging a cab. Plus it’s like starting the cruise with a cool excursion. We sit on the left/port side of the train for great water views as you travel norththrough some lovely country. Get to the train station early for good seat assignments.
