E-Gift card use

I received a Carnival E-Gift card from my daughter after doing some work at her home. I had to print it out. My question is can i apply it to my May sailing (all ready fully paid) on line or do i just bring it to the Service desk after we board.  I assume the gift card would just be used to reduce our total cruise bill first.

Thanks

You are correct - you can take the printed out e-Gift card to Guest Services and have it applied to your on board account. I've never tried it with e-Gift cards but you should also be able to use the self serve kiosks on board and likewise have the amount applied to your account.

Edit: you're paid in full but anything else pre-cruise that you might want to purchase (internet package, excursions, etc.) can also be paid with the e-Gift card.

Correct-you apply it once on board, either via Guest Services or the kiosk, and it will be used first -after any onboard credits you might have to reduce your total cruise bill.

Enjoy your cruise!

If you don't want to do it on board you can use it to buy cruise cash.

my understanding on cruise cash, it's a use it of lose it situation, correct?

But with a Carnival e-gift or gift card if the balance left is more than $10, Carnival returns this to you in the form of a new gift card.

….just something to consider.....

Yes, that is basically true, though you can bypass that with the casino.

But I wanted to mention it as an option if they were sure they'd use it (including for gratuities).

i  think i'll keep it as a E-Gift card if cruise cash is not refundable as a balance. Never know what the total you'll spend on the cruise but don't want to risk it

Did you pre-pay your gratuities?  If not, cruise cash can go towards gratuities.  That is something you know you'll spend.

One thing to note, some have had issues with ships allowing use of e-gift cards, and if they do allow them, there is a wait of up to 2 days.  I think it is all fixed now, but there were issues with them.
