Queen Elizabeth Position

My DW went on one of those RCI mega ships earlier this year with her friends and couldn’t wait to get off. The ship was heaving with 800 unruly kids, heavy smoking in the casino, buffet chaos, and sub-par food in MDR. Luckily just a four nighter.

I was on Quantum of Seas in August, which dwarfs Symphony. Almost 5,000 people, tons of kids, one of which was mine. It had great venues for a 10 year old. I ate in the MDR every night. The food was FAR better than Celebrity and really not too bad. I can’t compare it to QM2 MDR as I haven’t eaten there. The Kings Court equivalent was a mass of confusion. I won’t do it again unless I have to for grandson.

She was on Spectrum of the Seas out of Singapore, full capacity at 5k pax. No concept of the idea of British queuing onboard. My DW is a self-admitting food snob so the dining wasn’t for her.

The Ajaccio skies opened with a thoroughly drenching downpour, lightning and thunder at midday.  Thankfully, at the time we were under cover at a local restaurant with a tasty lunch, and several carafes of red wine until conditions eased.  I hope other QE passengers weren't caught in the open and had as enjoyable day in Ajaccio as we had.

I’m sure you are both dreading leaving the ship and longing to get home again. But which feeling prevails? For me, it has been an enchantment to follow your voyage.

It is the "dreading" one, by far.  We've had a wonderful voyage!  Thanks for your kind words.

Palma today has been amazing.  A deep blue sky, and a pleasant 25c.  We've walked every street and placa, and are now having a well deserved sangria and beer.

Upon arriving in our cabin I expected to see a letter from Cunard saying that due to our custom, loyalty, style, and general good looks, they would be providing us with complementary QE passage all the way home to Australia in our current PG cabin, and there would be no need to disembark tomorrow.

Instead we encountered the dreaded bed protector, along with luggage tags and a note saying, in effect, to pack up all our things and go away.  :classic_sad:  So sad...

And do you have another cruise booked? That always makes me feel better about disembarking.

Me too!  It is the only consolation on disembarking day.  Yes we are back on QE in February for a Sydney return to several South Pacific islands.

@sfred That room must feel like home you’ve been in it for so long. It has been great fun to tag along with you. Thanks for your wonderful posts. What was your favorite part?

36 nights!  It has been our longest journey but it went so fast.  There were so many highlights.   The Canal transit.   Bermuda.   The Med ports.  QE seadays with the amazingly excellent weather we had.  The PG service from Maître d' Sanjay and waiters Sanjoy, Rene, and Jayson.  The list is a long one...

Can't wait to be back in February.

Best wishes to @alibabacruisers, @BeachTunes, and all others for their upcoming voyages.  QE is a great ship.

I couldn't last 36 nights.

When we lived in Scotland and came to our studio here for all our holidays it was hard to go home. The only thing I looked forward to was getting back to our cats.

Living here, I just don't want to leave. Two weeks is about all I can cope with.

It feels like I'm on permanent holiday and if I go elsewhere it's to experience the few things we don't have here or to visit friends or relatives. It would be better if they all came to visit us.

How’s the jet lag?

Easy so far - we're still in Spain.  🙂

After getting off QE in Barcelona we took the train to Madrid.  There are some work contacts I wanted to see this week.  We start the long trip home on Saturday,  connecting in London and Singapore.
