As a horticulturist I love going to Botanic Gardens all over the world but I haven't been to the one in Singapore. Before you finish your wonderful journey I must let you know how much I have enjoyed following along, reading about your trip and enjoying your fabulous photos. Thank you so much for taking the time to allow us all to join you. I will miss my daily travel fix when your journey ends. It has been a delightful escape particularly during this "interesting" time in the world. Thank you. 🌷🌺🌹 One day, Purple Traveller, I hope you will see them for yourself. It’s a wonderful garden. You could spend hours there just looking at all the orchids. I am most grateful for your kind words. It’s been a cathartic experience for me. I was missing cruising so much and was so sad that our two week Caribbean cruise was cancelled in May, but writing this has really helped me to cope with this awful pandemic. I’m so glad you have enjoyed it. I am not really sure what I’m going to do with myself once I reach the end! 😉

On our first trip to Singapore way back in 2004, we spent an afternoon at the Orchid Botanical Garden. It looks even more spectacular now than 16 years ago. As I recall there was a building there where we witnessed a wedding. Because it was mid November, there was a large Christmas tree in the gift shop covered with orchids. Gail It was really beautiful. Gail. There was a wedding going on there when we visited. It must be a very popular venue, and no wonderl Hope one day you get to revisit the gardens. It’s on my bucket list. ellie1145 Posted September 19, 2020 Author #1528 Share Posted September 19, 2020 In the blink of an eye.... .......we find ourselves back in our room, and ready for sleep after our little adventure in the Tardis. We wake refreshed and ready to eat breakfast, so come and join us, it’s a feast to remember!
ellie1145 Posted September 19, 2020 Author #1529 Share Posted September 19, 2020 (edited) Breakfast .. and what a breakfast! We make our way down to the restaurant where there is a huge breakfast buffet waiting. We are shown to a table, drinks are offered and then we are left to explore. There is a huge array of food available. To the left are the European offerings, whilst to the right there is a wide range of Asian food. There is pretty much everything you can think of. So enjoy! Rare azbirdmom Posted September 19, 2020 #1532 Share Posted September 19, 2020 I've stayed at places that have do it yourself waffles but have never seen a pancake machine! I sure hope this is still there IF we visit next April which is sounding more doubtful by the day.

Unfortunately, despite our longing to be back cruising, I fear it may be a long time before things return to normal and we can step back on a ship. I do so hope your April cruise will take place. We are really frustrated by the situation but know we have to remain patient and observe all necessary rules if we are ever to see the back of this dreadful pandemic. What a joy it will be when we can return to cruising! 🚢

I know what you mean about missing cruising and travel in general. I have had a Coral Coast of Western Australia cruise for May, a five week trip to Portugal and France for June/July and a two week trip to India for November, all cancelled. 😥 I think you should get out your amazing Tardis and take us on another wonderful adventure of one of your past cruises! I for one would love to see another one of your fabulous and entertaining journeys. 😊 Edited September 20, 2020 by PurpleTraveller

ellie1145 Posted September 20, 2020 Author #1542 Share Posted September 20, 2020 Well, it’s been a busy ‘grandma’ weekend looking after my little grandson, so I haven’t had time to post much, but tomorrow I will continue our adventure. But here are a few more photos of the hotel to keep you going...
ellie1145 Posted September 20, 2020 Author #1543 Share Posted September 20, 2020 (edited) After a relaxing and filling breakfast we make our way back through the hotel. This glass ceiling is actually the bottom of the pool. The ripple effect is the water in the pool above, and you can see a few leaves floating around. I can’t resist a peep into the ‘ladies’ (powder room) and it is pretty cool. Edited September 20, 2020 by ellie1145
ellie1145 Posted September 21, 2020 Author #1544 Share Posted September 21, 2020 The Pool Area - in Daylight We walk back from breakfast via the pool area as it was too dark to see it properly last night. It is an unexpected oasis amid the hurly burly of Changi Airport, and provides a serene environment. This is the glass area of the pool which becomes the ceiling of the floor below. Sadly, I don’t have time for a swim, but if we ever return to Singapore I would love to have a couple of days here to relax. Here is a video tour. ellie1145 Posted September 21, 2020 Author #1547 Share Posted September 21, 2020 Our stay at the lovely Crowne Plaza is nearly over..... But we have time for a quick trip in the Tardis for a more in-depth visit to the Singapore Zoo, if anyone would like to join me? Let me know, and we will transport ourselves before we have to make our way to check in at the airport.

Rare azbirdmom Posted September 22, 2020 #1550 Share Posted September 22, 2020 Well Ellie, I will have to hang on to your lovely photos of the Crowne Plaza at Changi as our April cruise from Singapore is officially cancelled. It was painful to push the cancel button on the hotel reservations (thankfully refundable) but I will visit again someday!
