It's basically about 40 individual outdoor cafe's We went with the traditional Smorrebord for lunch. It's not Smorgasbord by any means. It is an open faced sandwich made with heavy dark bread and some type of protein. Today I had shrimp, I think. I wasn't a fan. But it was a nice setting, and I enjoyed several Carlsberg beers. East side of the canal West side. This is the typical picture of Copenahagen Most of the cafe's are on this side Waiting on food, enjoying the day Back to the hotel for a nap. That's the downside to flying to Europe from US. Jetlag We'll come back for dinner, the pizza looked good We were on a Baltic cruise this time last year - left from Amsterdam on the Brilliance. We were supposed to do our first TA this fall but sadly....... 😕. We did to the L & S to the Odyssey TA for 2021 🤞.

Sunshine3601 Posted August 26, 2020 #33 Share Posted August 26, 2020 Love seeing these photos and excited for me since we missed our baltic cruise 2 weeks ago. I think we were booked for Scandic Palace because it was in close walking distance to Tivoli, the train station, the canal and other walkable sightseeing things.

Rare John&LaLa Posted August 27, 2020 Author #35 Share Posted August 27, 2020 August 18, 2018 - Oh what a beautiful morning Up until now, I've been compressing pictures to document size. Let's see how they do full size. CC software automatically shrinks them to some extent Big race is tomorrow Bleachers for the finish line Yesterday was Pride nice shot of the moon I really like our 'beach' A few folks in the water for a morning swim You can actually see the ships from our balcony. Serenade will be here tomorrow Let's head over to the canal and catch our boat tour
Rare John&LaLa Posted August 27, 2020 Author #36 Share Posted August 27, 2020 (edited) FYI, turns out CC software did a nice job scaling the above pics down to around 200k, so I'm not going to compress them anymore. I'll also try and limit each post to around 10 pictures or less Edited August 27, 2020 by John&LaLa
Rare John&LaLa Posted August 27, 2020 Author #37 Share Posted August 27, 2020 Nyhaven Canal Top of the canal looking towards the harbor. Our boat in the bottom left. We wanted an open top Good price, around $8 Not 100% sure what this is Living the Viking Life We're told this takes around an hour. Some of these canal boats work like the HOHO busses. Ours is just a tour
Rare John&LaLa Posted August 27, 2020 Author #38 Share Posted August 27, 2020 The Playhouse. I think some Pride activities were held here. It was at the end of our little beach Our hotel as seen from the harbor The Opera House. We're told Red Bull uses it for cliff diving competitions off the roof I guess the Danish Navy had a few subs Museum ship Peder Skram If this clock is right, I'm guessing it's around 10:30 am I think this is a houseboat now. Pretty cool. Before we get to far along, here is the area we will be touring. Nyhaven is where it says Hotel Bethel, the Little Mermaid is Lille at the top right Then back to Freetown canal, thru the canal by Dansk Center then back to Nyhaven Lots of low bridges
Rare John&LaLa Posted August 27, 2020 Author #39 Share Posted August 27, 2020 Our tour guide was pretty good Ships at the Ocean Terminals Seaborn Ovation at the Quayside Pier. Google Maps shows a Radiance ship tied up here recently. Very conveniently located to the city center The backside of the Little Mermaid. We won't see her front until we come back next week and do the HOHO No social distancing here. Not that we even knew what that meant two years ago The Royal Pavilions. This is where the Royal family waits to board their yacht. It wasn't here this week A schooner, but no bar Nice little boat. We'll get up close and personal with her this afternoon The dome of Frederick's Church
Rare John&LaLa Posted August 27, 2020 Author #40 Share Posted August 27, 2020 Kayaking is very popular in the summer Our sponsor for tomorrow's festivities The always lovely LaLa Entrance to Nyhaven. The bridge on the left is a swing bridge. Turns out when they built it, it didn't meet in the middle, so they had to redesign it. Underneath the bridge The tower of the Church of our Savior. You can't take this picture until you go under the bridge. Many people wait to long and end up with a picture of a tree instead. Our guide telling us about the tree The most famous tree in Copenhagen, according to it's FB page https://www.facebook.com/The-most-famous-tree-in-Copenhagen

So much has changed since then. I remember the cruise boats were terrible, apparently they got new ones. Its always nice going around Saint P. especially when the weather.. especially if you choose to explore it through the canals.
