What happens if tested positive?

Hi Everyone,

We're interested in the MSC cruise from Miami this coming December.  I assume we gonna be tested for covid before boarding the ship. So if we're tested positive on-site, are we gonna be disallowed to board and will the cruise refund us?

Just wanna know the general policy of most cruises in this situation.

You will definitely be denied boarding and at present be refunded but this could obviously all change.

So far for the Grandiosa sailings MSC is offering special insurance to cover you if you are denied boarding at embarkation or a port stop.  It covers loss of cruise fare and some medical treatment/quarantine costs you may have to go through.

I just realized that my credit card has travel insurance up to $1500 per person. Shouldn’t this be enough to cover my expense?

Probably 

But only you know your expenses that would have occurred should you be denied boarding.

On the UK website there is an orange banner/headline with all the details re Covid, don't know if this is on all sites but lots of information

U.S website has the orange banner too but doesn’t address our concern.

You should check if your travel insurance covers any expenses in case of pandemics.

Most normal insurances don`t.

The credit card insurance agent said covid is covered because it's considered illness.  But disinclination to travel due to an epidemic or pandemic is not covered.

Most of the travel insurances don’t cover corona unless you have an extra insurance.
