deec Posted November 22, 2020 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2020 We are thinking about extending a cruise in late April from Bergen to Amsterdam and it will include Flam, Oslo and a couple other ports. Cool is OK but how wet with rain? Will it be dreary or bright but cool skies? We will have started the Cruise in late February in South America. hallasm Posted November 22, 2020 #2 Share Posted November 22, 2020 For Bergen April is a chilly month. The average maximum temperature lies around 9°C (48°F) and the average minimum temperature in Bergen in April is 3°C (37.°F). Average hours of sun in April is it has 142 hours. In April an average of 114mm (4.5in) rain. (13 days). The maximum temperature in Flåm is a bit higher (12°C (54°F) - if you take the train into the mountains in Flåm you should expect snow and temperature at -2°C (28°F) - only 6 days with rain in Flåm. Weather in Oslo is similar to Flåm.
phabric Posted November 24, 2020 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2020 Any idea what the average weather will be like, I know it is hard to predict the weather We will be doing - Last week of May Scandinavia cruise -Kristiansand, Copenhagen, Skagen, Oslo First week of June Norwegian Fjords -Bergen, Skjolden/Sognefjord, Olden, Stavanger
hallasm Posted November 24, 2020 #4 Share Posted November 24, 2020 End May and beginning of June is my preferred time for the Norwegian fjords. Still snow in the mountains and lots of water in the rivers. The weather can be quite nice (unfortunately the opposite can also be the case). The days are also long which is necessary to enjoy the scenic sailings into the deep fjords that start early in the morning and end late in the evening. In June, the average high-temperature marginally rises, from a mild 15°C (59°F) in May, to a comfortable 18 to 21°C (65 to 70°F). The average low-temperature is 10°C (50°F). A video from the first week of June.
phabric Posted November 24, 2020 #5 Share Posted November 24, 2020 Thanks for the weather information. I have done the Norwegian Fjords and Scandinavia in August so going in May/June will be different.
Ine Posted November 24, 2020 #6 Share Posted November 24, 2020 We once did a Norway cruise Mid May. The weather was rather sunny, but cold to chilly. Places like Geiranger were more or less closed due to snow in the mountains and on the roads. On the other hand seeing that much snow in the fjords was amazing. So bring warm jackets and good shoes for that type of weather.
nini Posted December 2, 2020 #7 Share Posted December 2, 2020 Since the schedules are now out for 2022 (Princess), what are the favorite months to cruise these areas? We are considering early June. Thanks!
