M&M cruiseaholics Posted March 10, 2021 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2021 Princess has taken my May 2021 Cruisetour and moved it to May 2022 securing the price I paid and identical cabin location. Ship was changed from the Grand to the Sapphire which is an upgrade. However, the cruise switched out Glacier Bay for Hubbard Glacier. I have only been on 1 Alaska cruise before, and that did go to Hubbard Glacier. My main desire for this second Alaska cruise was Glacier Bay, plus of course, the land portion. What are the pros and cons of accepting the new itinerary without Glacier Bay? Thanks for your responses.

However, if you’re good with a substitution at the same price, cabin and perks, then I would accept their offer. If you have your heart set on Glacier Bay, then rebook your cruise at prevailing rates that includes it. Only you can determine if the additional cost is worth it for one port. Sapphire Princess is a terrific ship and I’m sure your cruise would still be just as awesome.
voljeep Posted March 10, 2021 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2021 Contact Princess or your TA and see "if" you can move to a similar cruise/tour that includes Glacier Bay and still retain price/perks - well worth a call and a few hours time
Rare bassmk Posted March 10, 2021 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2021 100% you should take it. I highly doubt May 2021 Alaska will sail. Their rebooking deals are pretty generous.

I was concerned because I have Sept 2022 cruise on the Sapphire and wanted to make sure they didn't change it.
M&M cruiseaholics Posted March 11, 2021 Author #6 Share Posted March 11, 2021 The Grand and the Majestic are cruising to Glacier Bay the same week and it appears that the Sapphire itinerary was changed. The land potion of the other 2 ships is different is very different.
Sillyjilly Posted March 11, 2021 #7 Share Posted March 11, 2021 I love Hubbard Glacier much more than Glacier Bay. Only you can decide what's best for you, but I'd do Hubbard Glacier again in a heartbeat.
caribill Posted March 11, 2021 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2021 Once your 2022 cruise is set up by Princess, they will allow you to move it a week before or after the date they picked. If the cruisetour you want is offered on those alternate dates, you can then have Princess switch you to it. Is this the first time you will have a cruisetour to Alaska? If so, the land part may make the booking worth keeping even if the ship does not make go to Glacier Bay.

I would be hesitant to do a land tour that hits Denali before June. Edited March 11, 2021 by Coral
Rare Tak8 Posted March 11, 2021 #10 Share Posted March 11, 2021 Considering what some are indicating as huge price increases for cabins, I would keep it. Of course, I'm really longing for a vacation.
