My Celebrity Cruise (Summit) that is scheduled to sail on August 29th was originally a New England/Canadian cruise is still a "go" according to my travel specialist.  Since Canada ports are closed, I'm wondering where they might reroute this cruise to?  It's scheduled to stop in Bar Harbor and Providence, Maine.  The other ports were all Canadian.  Any guesses as to where this ship might sail if it remains a domestic cruise?

It can't remain a domestic cruise. It has to stop at at least one foreign port. Maybe the Bahamas?

There is a very low probability that Canada will open their border and ports by August 29th.  And the CDC says No Sail until November.    I would expect this cruise to be cancelled.

The Canadian federal government is not going to open the ports, and even if they did, none of the Maritime provinces will allow you in without a mandatory 14-day quarantine. Add the CDC's No Sail order, this sailing is simply not going to take place.

 

I'll add that if your travel specialist still thinks that the cruise is a "go" and hasn't warned you of the several reasons why it won't, you might want to consider looking for a new TA.

Well, "Providence, Maine" may be a foreign port, since Providence is in Rhode Island.😉

As a foreign flag ship, it cannot be a "domestic" cruise.  As others have noted, it must visit a foreign port.  They could go to the Miquelon Islands off Newfoundland, as those are French, but last I heard France was only allowing strict "essential" travel to her overseas territories.

Bahamas is much too far away.  Perhaps the poster meant Bermuda?

My guess, is not so much that it is a "go," but that it just ha snot yet been cancelled but will be.

Maybe they will stop in a French territory to satisfy that foreign port rule.

Sure but the cruise is not until the end on August. Things can change in France very quickly. Just ask General Maurice Gustave Gamelin. 🤯

You are dreaming. Macron has this nasty habit if listening to his medical experts- they've just gone into another hard lock down due to a spike from variants. And as you know, the EU lags behind  in vaccination numbers and France  has suspended use of the AZ vaccine.

=X= is still offering Bermuda on Summit for sailings in 2 months.  C'Mon.  There are many cruises which must be cancelled and have yet to be.  I must assume the OP's voyage is among them.
