I note from the news today, Qld Health has said Queenslanders who have been in a covid exposure area in Australia and are returning to Qld have to go into quarantine for 14 days.  Anybody else read that? Queenslanders how do you feel about that?

Yes directive is under Queensland Health.  There are currently five sites listed.  Anyone who has been to these listed sites must quarantine for 14 days.

I am happy about it, as long as visitors are told in advance, not when they are in flight home.  Virgin said had they known they would have passengers option to stay in Perth, rather than quarantine for 14 days at their expense.

Yes, governments have to get a bit smarter about slamming quarantines on people already in transit. Sure, there could be a very slight risk but lockdown at home is probably adequate unless the outbreak was very large and happened very quickly.

Strangely Queensland didn't seem to do much about stopping people from Brisbane travelling to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast in the few hours before their lockdown.

WA didn't on last lockdown either.  Neither did Vic originally,  You just have to travel before a certain time.  It depends whether lockdown is Brisbane or Greater Brisbane.  This is a huge area compared to other State Capital Cities.

Which, of course, makes a mockery of such things as forced quarantines while a flight is in transit. Luckily there haven't been any outbreaks from people "escaping" lockdown but if we keep getting outbreaks from quarantine hotels inevitably it will happen and the sensationalist media will have a field day.

Still, overall we're doing amazingly well.😊

NZ PM just announced Two way bubble between NZ and Cook Islands.  Aussie can visit Cook Islands after spending time in NZ.   Did anyone catch how long Aussies would have to stay in NZ first?

At least 14 days.

That would be doable.  14 days in North Island, via Qantas from Gold Coast, and 14 days in the Cook Islands, assuming Aussies can visit Aitutaki.
