Carnival Test Sailings Coming

I just listened to a vlog that said that Carnival is sending out emails to Casino passengers inviting them to a test cruise. It's not 100% confirmed, but if you are a Casino cruiser, check your email and see if you have been invited, and let us know!

Wouldn't surprise me if they want people really close to port to eliminate the need for airfare.

That's great!  I wonder how many test cruises they need to do on a particular ship before they can sail with  paying passengers.

The hand book says anywhere from 1 to 7 days, but I think 1 day is not correct, but they could do the 2 day cruise and cram in all the tests. And they only need 10% if I remember correctly. Someone can fact check me on that.

So they could potentially do a five day cruise and meet all of the requirements to sail with everyone?

probably. They have some tests, list is pretty long, that have to be completed. So the question is can they perform all the tests on a 2,3, 4 or 5 day cruise.

I only heard of a single email in the Vlog and I think more likely it was a survey.

 

Carnival would still have to have a plan for test cruises approved and AFAIK, they haven't applied yet.

But they need to do it on every class of ship.  Like I have been saying for weeks, it makes sense that they will have some ships start out with the 95% rule and make the other 5% ages 11 and under.  And then the test cruises will accommodate the unvaccinated and families so that there would be ships for everyone.

Here is the $1000 question, the test cruses require the company to ask for vacination status, so by Flordia law they can not ask so how are they going to do test cruises.

It actually looks like the cruise lines don't have to ask for vaccination status.  They can just ask people to submit a form confirming they have no medical conditions that would place them at high risk for covid.  It looks like it's and either / or, and they could possibly do just option 2:

 

• "The cruise ship operator must ensure all volunteer passengers have either:
  • Proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 using an S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-authorized vaccine or a vaccine product that has received emergency use listing from the World Health Organization (WHO); or
  • If not fully vaccinated, written documentation from a healthcare provider or self-certified statement that the volunteer passenger has no medical conditions that would place the volunteer at high risk for severe COVID-19 as determined through CDC guidance."

If Carnival decides to bypass the test cruise route, then there will be no unvaccinated adults on a Carnival ship in the short term since 95% need to be vaccinated and 5% will be under the age of 12. But of course there will be the defiant liars regarding taking the jab, so if there are as ny kind of loopholes, they will plug them.

Do the test cruises have to sail out of their corresponding home port?  Isn't it possible for test cruises to be completed from any port within the US as long as every ship runs the test cruises?

Port/service agreements/contracts need to be in place for the US ports, before any simulated cruise can sail.

Have test cruises been granted a waiver from the PVSA? Will any Foreign port other than their own island accept non-vaccinated passengers? Still a few details to work out. Vaccinated vs unvaccinated is a moot point is there are no ports accepting unvaccinated passengers. HMC has a capacity limit I am sure.

It seems like the islands that let people visit by airline with a negative covid test would allow visiting by cruise ship with a negative covid test.
