First time Cheers package questions.

I'm not sure why you would want to buy a bucket of beer if you have cheers. But I think the 15 alcoholic drinks a day/person is enforced whether you buy it or use cheers.

Because it’s convenient. Because we might want to share it on our balcony  without running back and forth…

There is no drink limit if you don't buy Cheers.

They impose the limit on Cheers notionally as a way to stop people from over drinking, but I suspect it is to stop you from ordering drink after drink and only taking a few sips.  i.e. a Cost-Control mechanism, with a gloss of "safety" for show.

First time having the Cheers package and I have a questions about tips.  My T.A. said you pay at the end of cruise the 20% gratuity on the drinks you ordered.  Somewhere on this thread it was said that the gratuities are included already in the Cheers package.  Can someone clear this up for me.

Sailing the M.G. in November.  This is our third time booking a cruise trying to use our future cruise credit from our September 2019 Sunset cruise to Bermuda that was hit with a hurricane.  Hope 3 is a charm.

Buying drinks individually, the gratuity is paid at the time of purchase.  Buying the Cheers drink package, the gratuity (on the full Cheers package cost) is added and paid at the time the package is purchased.  No other gratuities are added to your account for the individual drinks or Cheers package.

As noted by the previous reply, an 18% gratuity (not 20%) is included in the cost of Cheers when you purchase it online prior to the cruise, or if you purchase it (at a higher price) when you get on board.

Your TA might be confusing it with another line's drink package.

That being said, if you actually intend to have more than 6 or 7 drinks a day, you might consider bumping up the no-cost "bill" you get with an additional tip, since the 18% grat that was "pre-included" gets watered down with each drink.  The $9 of pre-paid grat or so covers all drinks, so if you normally tip a buck or two, you can see you are essentially not tipping at all after a while.

Telling people our secrets, huh?  I like going to that bar and nobody being there.  Don't mess that up.  HA HA!  🙂

That Blanton's on the rocks after a long day of drinking by the pool is amazing.  You are right I should keep my  secrets better.

We have the RU2 pkg for our Nov cruise.  We are not big drinkers, but love specialty coffee & non alcoholic drinks- so for about $140 pp on a 7 day, it was a no brainer.  So I looked for that offer on the next cruise we  booked & the cost was more like $300 pp.  So do your math, it wasn't worth that for us non drinkers.

we have the free booze package for the December MG cruise.  I am not a big drinker, but it would have cost us close to 700 total for the package.  I was willing to pay the additional 200 for it.  so basically it is saving me 500 dollars.  no brainer. love the coffee , water, and frozen drinks.

If you have the RU2 pkg., what are you talking about when you say "about $140 pp".  I'm still confused about the gratuity.  We got it as a bonus for booking a cruise prior to 5/31 and no where on my documents does it have any extra dollars.  It says "Cheers is included in your offer".

Some people purchase Cheers at a reduced daily rate, some as low as $5pp/day. About $140pp would be $20/day plus the required gratuities.

The RU1 has been reported as low as $5pp/day.  The RU2 fluctuates around $20pp/day. The RU3 is slightly higher.  It is all target marketing by Carnival and has no rhyme or reason as to who the algorithm chose to bestow the codes to.  Most have been people that have not purchased Cheers in the past, while some previous Cheers purchasers have been lucky to have gotten it.  I have purchased Cheers on all 4 Carnival cruises I have taken since the program came out and I only received the idiotic RU9 code, which saves you nothing and is only good with OV or better cabins.

Maybe they take you for granted as you always purchase it.

No question.  It's just frustrating that some other previous Cheers purchasers had received the offer.  I would have been ecstatic to have received the more expensive RU3.

We just booked for October trying to use the same credit for the third time....though we’re doing Baltimore. We’re trying the cheers promo too since the cruise is basically paid for

Hi there, on my next sailing I have the cheers package.  Not much of a drinker, but I do have some questions.

Do I get a sticker or something?  Can I get a soda and a bottle of water at the same time?  Is the tip already included in the price of the cheers?

I also have never followed the 'bar open' info, so is there always a bar open?  Any input would be great, thanks.

someone mentioned casino bar open until early a.m., at least 1 of the pool bars opens up fairly early (think 7 a.m. or so)

Yup, casino bar usually open until at least 3am, sometimes a bit longer. They usually close it when they shut the tables down. You can sometimes get a beer at the pizza place really late night as well. They sometimes keep a tray back there in a fridge.

More annoying first time cheers questions.

Has anyone seen a promotion that can work for 4 in a cabin? Even if 2 are little kids? And if my Husband and I get cheers, do my kids have to get bottomless bubbles? They’ll only be 4, so I don’t really see it being beneficial for them to get it for the occasional juice

etc.  can I get my Kids a juice on my

cheers?

Never. Limited to two people in a cabin. It won't work if you try to book it. If you are traveling with adults it's possible to book two in one room to only buy two cheers instead of four but that's the only work around.

But we can purchase it for just the 2 of us correct?!

Yes.  Everyone 21 and over must buy it if you want one to buy it.  Oddly enough they discourage sales to children.

The current bunch of Cheers promos are the first ones I have experienced in my "modern era" of sailing with Carnival (since 2017ish).  They simply don't normally offer any kind of promos, so when things get back to "normal-ish", I expect the Cheers promos to disappear.

i was shocked to see a free Cheers promo.  Once they sent me one, I just kept getting them.  I have never purchased Cheers, but now have two cruises booked with the free Cheers because it was not much more than booking a regular promo rate.
