stuart2468 Posted May 21, 2021 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2021 According to the book of faces, and more specifically MSC's page, World Europa sales open in 10 days time. Does anyone know where she will be sailing? I assume the traditional western med route that all most of MSC's ships begin upon
Mattsudds Posted May 23, 2021 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2021 I dont have any inside information or anything to verify so this is just an educated guess. But I would say you are probably right - 1st main season on the Western Med 7 night circuit. And eventually at least 1 of the class to be based in Miami. To me, the things that would back up that scenario are 1) MSC has deals for LNG bunkering for ships in the Med. https://www.msccruises.com/en-gl/About-MSC/News/LNG-Powered-Cruise-Ships.aspx 2) MSC has a very big shiny new terminal under planning/ construction in Miami and all the artists impressions show one of this class of ship. stuart2468 Posted May 25, 2021 Author #4 Share Posted May 25, 2021 Well I've seen this somewhere before. You'd think if they were to reveal a first rendering, that it wouldn't feel like they're advertising the competition. I was very much looking forward to this ship, but if its going down the route of the oasis class, then I wont be impressed. Not because its full of amenities, but because the oasis class doesn't have the same opulent feel that an MSC ship has. Further Americanisation of the brand I feel. And this saddens me
oceantriumph Posted May 25, 2021 #5 Share Posted May 25, 2021 still feels very opulent to us! I mean look at those beautiful lighting adornments, the angled balconies, the flooring. It feels like it has all the MSC design language, while applying to a larger ship. We really liked the new rendering -- it definitely feels like a "posh" Oasis class, which for us is a big plus with all the outside space

And this saddens me That's it exactly!... I couldn't say it better!... While @oceantriumph is true that they've incorporated at least some of the all times MSC's design language on this ship, it's also true that it feels out of place on its fleet. MSC is for well traveled worldwide average-to-affluent class individuals whom want a comfortable floating hotel to go from the current day new place adventure to the next day adventure one. It isn't for those wanting just another 4* casino hotel at see with some bundled kid activities, a theme park at see or a mega mall at see!... For me, I wouldn't say never, but for now I'll be as out as I can find such a Musica, Fantasia or Seaside class pleasant itinerary available. Meanwhile nothing against the Oasis class. Been there, done that!... RCI could live out of it as a separate premium line just made to fit it inside!... It is superb, even though for me, it is like a once in a lifetime experience!... So, it is different apples for different cruisers, IMHO. And for different purposes and moments to say the least... Have a nice day!... Two Wheels Only Posted May 25, 2021 #7 Share Posted May 25, 2021 It's a bit too early to get a feel of what the experience will be like based on a rendering. There could be classical music at volume 1 or techno music at volume 11 being played in that area.

Jeremiah1212 Posted May 25, 2021 #11 Share Posted May 25, 2021 Doesn't it have some Celebrity Edge style balconies as well? Truly a mashup ship of sorts. Now if they would just give us a little more info about Seashore before we move on to Europa.....
Nunagoras Posted May 25, 2021 #12 Share Posted May 25, 2021 Actually the slide seems more beautiful than that pinkie thing sitting currently (but not originally nor when I was there) on the Oasis class ships. That's not the problem with this rendering whatsoever. So, now Let's see: There is such a little garden on the right side of the rendering with no correspondence on the left side. and there are 2 different restaurants that seem to be coming from 2 different renting businesses (a casual party like one on the left and a fine dining one on the right). I understand the idea of giving the impression that you're on any main avenue in any big Italian city... But ships don't work like that. Even those Oasis class "neighborhoods" don't work that way... The typical MSC's simplicity despite sophistication is totally absent from this "childish" design concept... This seems a bad mix of both the Oasis "Boardwalk" and "Central Park" areas. Wouldn't it to be better if there was at least some consistency? "Boardwalk" areas are for casual times. I could see the nice pizzeria or a traditional Italian trattoria out there and the steakhouse or a burger house or a sports bar and pub, but not a fine dining venue. Those are the details that make me to think this as a "cheap" design!... Surely I'm far from a designer... But I can appreciate what good design is!... Sadly for me, Fantasia class remains the best MSC design concept to date, despite the YC restaurant separated from the enclave. Have a nice day!...

Now if they would just give us a little more info about Seashore before we move on to Europa..... Well: Cabins are mostly made from a few providers worldwide for the whole industry. That's not the point either. Lack of identity is. MSC uses to be quite secretive on their future ventures. It's part of its identity. Would I like it to be different? Surely, but things are what they are. Not bad nor good. It is what it is. Have a nice day!...
Rare Stockjock Posted May 25, 2021 #14 Share Posted May 25, 2021 I always appreciate it when MSC, or any cruise line, mixes things up a bit. I've recently been on several MSC ships and watched videos of others that very much look and feel the same. Same restaurants. Same layout. Same LCD screen roofed promenade, etc. Don't get me wrong, those things are actually pretty cool, but it's boring to sail on the "same ship" over and over again, even when it a different ship, if that makes sense. So if they want to mix things up a little or a lot, I'm in favor of that.

Seaside/Seaview/Seashore (maybe?) definitely have some odd early 1990's Las Vegas design vibes going on that make the interior look really dated.

So if they want to mix things up a little or a lot, I'm in favor of that. Many thanks to the very well written thought provoking post! On one hand I agree 1000% with you, just from a personal experience point of view that some variety in the mix is good so that we're not on the same ship again and again... But then comes another reality: We're not the unique cruisers going on, and then there is the need for some trademark identity and loyalty!... For example; when I book such an RCI cruise, I know for certain that their coffee will be mostly such a Seattle's Best/Starbucks combo both for general services and there will be a Starbucks renting venue aboard the larger ships. It's the same rule fleet wide, even though each class of ship has its definite flavor for variety. So now, MSC runs a mix of Segafredo/Lavazza/Santista (a Brazilian coffee trademark they use on the South American sailings) for general services and there is a mix of Venchi/Jean-Philippe/Segafredo/Lavazza renting spaces on a ship class/cruise region base!... That doesn't bring trademark consistency and don't facilitate the public's understanding of the whole experience, itinerary by itinerary... Really 21st century world problems... But, IMHO, those are among those little details that don't make MSC a cruise leader for now... Er... And worse than it: It seems they're sacrificing identity over being everything for everyone... Hope they don't end up being nothing for nobody!... Have a nice day!... Edited May 26, 2021 by Nunagoras

To each, its own, really, sid... Even though some noticeable RCI Oasis class influence on the cabin's design, it is really quite nice for me. It is warm, it reminds me what could have been my room at home, certainly, a place where I can belong to for the week. In some ways it also reminds me some of the Musica class cabins updated for the 2020's cruisers!... So, now what's that "futuristic city at sea" area?... Presumably it's the atrium, isn't it?... Again: Poor cheap design to say the least, despite the interesting LED ceiling... Quite surprisingly in this case that design is somewhat reminiscent of the Virgin Scarlet Lady's atrium with an MSC's twist!... Maybe; it can to be bearable if they happen to have the wonderful classical music they used to have on the older ships playing all day, and live at evenings coupled with a nice coffee bar from where I can to grab such a nice coffee and chocolate concoction for that moment... Have a nice day!...
