Alabaster Cruiser Posted June 28, 2021 #28 Share Posted June 28, 2021 I feel left out! Just kidding. We don't have pets due to travels. But during covid we had a pheasant that adopted us on the farm. He would be on our porch railing every morning wanting me to feed him pecans. The strangest thing...he chased cars! I guess he was raised around dogs in the country and picked up a bad habit. He would go meet the schoolbus every day (the kids loved him). But unfortunately he did eventually catch one of the trucks he was chasing and got killed. But he did give us something to enjoy and laugh at everyday during the lonely covid times. I did name him Pleasant the pheasant.😁

Izena Posted June 28, 2021 #31 Share Posted June 28, 2021 welcome to new visitors. This is a great site. Jazz and I walked 2 miles just missed the rain.. His odd behavior last week was due to a bug bite under his chin. Saturday went to check the bite and it had a hard scab and won’t let me his fur. SOOO to vet this morning. Scab removed Area size of quarter fiery red. Pain /anti inflammatory med — antibiotics — powder to sprinkle on the wound. Feel bad for him. He’s acting okay so should heal fast. Have spent the last 2 hour checking hotels for Montana. Friend had said to wing it then has realized that the tourists are out in droves. We can stay in Cody, Wy or around Bozeman, Mt prices are up $50 a night.

Ombud Posted June 29, 2021 #37 Share Posted June 29, 2021 (edited) Congratulations Jan!! Irena, poor Jazzper. That's a very bad bite Chris, you could ask the help desk to change it or just sign off with it. Ok. Thats a screenshot from another site. I tried to quote it and it wouldn't let me. Sorry I'm trying to be careful in this heat .... tempted to buy ice cream but fortunately my car isn't fixed yet and I'm not walking to the store (4 mi RT). Maybe Thursday will be a good measuring day Edited June 29, 2021 by Ombud
Belle Posted June 29, 2021 Author #38 Share Posted June 29, 2021 Jan so happy for you and your daughter of course.🌝 What a happy day for everyone. Izena hope your baby Jazzper is feeling better each day and back to normal soon. Chris that's what we will call you from now on. Ombud your car saved you from Ice Cream. I love ice cream but walk 4 miles in warm weather I wouldn't either.
Izena Posted June 29, 2021 #39 Share Posted June 29, 2021 Jazzpers wound looks much better today - no longer angry red. Got hotels for Montana trip. Will stay at friends until Tuesday then head straight south to Cody, Wy. Spend two nights ($550 for 2 nights at super 😎😎 I also booked a room for Bozeman for one night ($350 at days inn) I understand the high cost, hotels lost a years revenue. jan congratulations and happy everyone is healthy. Made me smile when you said Grammie. ( My only grandmother was affectionately called Grammie Chase. (Mother’s maiden name). When I had my sons I asked my mom what she wanted to be called — she was vague and non committed so she was called grandma —— 20 years later she casually mentioned she was disappointed no one called her Grammie.
Belle Posted June 29, 2021 Author #40 Share Posted June 29, 2021 Izena glad Jazzper is doing better. Montana will be such a nice trip. Hope not to busy with summer travelers. Nice your ok with higher price hotels. I understand all business's of all kinds lost money but they ALL are raising prices and we the public have to pay it so they can make back but many of the public lost jobs/money too. How's everyone doing eating wise this week? Do you find it harder because it's summer or is it easier? Are you trying something different this summer to lose? Now that cruises are coming back and most have cruises booked does that make it easier to diet because you want to be thinner and doesn't matter that it's summer? Please give tips on what your doing to lose weight and it might be something we can try and help us all lose weight.
Belle Posted June 30, 2021 Author #41 Share Posted June 30, 2021 So quiet in here. Everyone is doing that good or very busy enjoying the day. I've been good so far this week, hope to have a loss on Thursday. Daughter came by for a little visit, her day off. I booked another cruise today. had on hold. Hope I get to take it. It's one to be added to others. Love b2b's as many as I can but can't do them till after Nov. 1st. Will be the longest days I've sailed. Hope CDC doesn't change things and the cruises go back to semi-normal. Think that's all we can ask. Hope more of you post in the days to come. Don't stay away if you think you gained. Need to get back on track. We're here for the good days as well as the bad. We just keep on trying. Jan are you enjoying the new little one?
Ombud Posted June 30, 2021 #42 Share Posted June 30, 2021 I had to authorize a rather large estimate so I ate a box of cookies. Didn't mean too, just happened. Anyway it took Honda all day but it only wound up being $165. Remote lock system, door latch (body work), and Bluetooth connection repaired. I am not having a good weight loss week. Belle, what cruise did you book? Jan, mom & baby still hospitalized? Irena, Jazzper going to Bozeman with you? Chris, is the help desk changing your name? SilentlyPerfect Posted June 30, 2021 #43 Share Posted June 30, 2021 (edited) Hello all! Keeping myself busy doing other things, creating projects, pulling weeds outside, etc., rather than concentrating on what is on inside of the refrigerator helps! Have to laugh at myself once in a while and remind myself of my goals. I have a tendency to eat out of boredom, rather than actual hunger. I have a very overweight cat (Yogi) that I have been trying to scale back his food. Wow, I certainly can sympathize with him when it gets close to feeding time and he sits at his empty food dish and meows (in fact, he meows a lot!). 🐱 Although, I assure you these past few days that I have not yet been reduced to meowing for food. However, I certainly get Yogi's point when I look at the refrigerator and politely tell myself "No"! 🤣 I just wanted to mention, today is my birthday and I am celebrating with a Vegan cake, a very small vegan cake. Hopefully weigh-in tomorrow will be kind to me! Especially, since I feel very giddy about turning yet another year older (God help me). Therefore, I plan to celebrate with a small number of people called my family, who do not care how much I weigh. They are supportive in my weight loss decision and for that I feel extra special. 🥂 Edited June 30, 2021 by SilentlyPerfect

Izena Posted June 30, 2021 #46 Share Posted June 30, 2021 Morning everyone. Weather good in mornings high 70’s of course humid. ombud - I totally understand eating a box of cookies… I don’t have any candy in house - Currently only have biscotti (individually wrapped) and Gingersnaps ( which I bagged in 90 calories servings). It keeps me from grabbing handfuls.. Jazzper stays with his best friend Tate(they met at dog park 9 years ago) Tate’s mom no longer goes to park, mismanages health issues. We have an unspoken agreement not to speak about wt. ( best guess is she weighs close to 400 lbs). Jazzper adores her. Happy birthday Katia Belle glad your having a good week and your daughter visited. Can’t believe you’ve booked another cruise. How many cruises do you currently have booked?
retiring soon Posted June 30, 2021 #47 Share Posted June 30, 2021 HI all! Jan ~ congratulations on your new grandson, your first right? Glad all went well. Katia ~ happy birthday & enjoy your cake & family on your special day. Belle ~ I booked another cruise this week too. Picked the Caribbean Princess from Miami 14 days, stopping at some great ports, 2 of which I've never been to, but not 'til Jan 2023. I now have 11 booked but 3 I'm sure to cancel. Izena ~ oh that was sad your Mom didn't tell you her preference 'til much later. Nana seems a popular choice in our family with the German grandmother being called Oma. None of them are names I'll ever be called. Both my DDs are in their 40's with no kids. I'm hoping for good news tomorrow as I've been better about snacking.🤞 See you then & stay safe. ~ Jo ~ 😊
Belle Posted June 30, 2021 Author #48 Share Posted June 30, 2021 Good Afternoon everyone. So nice to see everyone talking Ombud--Hope your having a better food day. Know those checks are hard to write sometimes. Glad you got your car fixed. Katia--Happy Birthday! Enjoy your cake. Nice to keep busy instead of eating so you can enjoy time with family tonight. Sorry about your cat ,we all understand we might not meow but we do whine at times. Jan--How are things going? Don't remember if DD lives by you that had the grandchild. Izena--You do good about having a few things in the house to eat. Nice you have someone to watch Jazzper when your gone. Yes sometimes better to not talk weight but sure you wish she could lose because of her health. Jo--Glad you were better about snacks this week and you have a loss. I've been trying too. Happy for you that you have another cruise booked. Isn't it nice to have a few booked. I like you called my grandmother Nana, she was one of a kind, wish could called her by her name she didn't want grandma...she wasn't a lovey-dovey Nana. Also like you I probably won't have grandkids. I have a son and daughter, 11 1/2 years apart (same husband) Me-- My cruise I booked was to Hawaii. I have 13 booked for this year and next. Some were free (just cabin which is nice because solo pays double) and some I paid for (casino discount). I'm going to have to cancel 4 of them I think, two for sure, what's sad they were the free ones, windows and balcony's. Everyone continue to have a good day so your ready for the scale.
SilentlyPerfect Posted July 1, 2021 #49 Share Posted July 1, 2021 Good Morning to all 😃 I am happy to report a loss of 1.2 pounds! Wow, I am so elated about this first weigh-in. I was not expecting such good results on my first weigh-in, but there it is... I can imagine if I keep this up better days are ahead. I even think my husband is trying to lose a few pounds (so happy if he does), but I am okay if he ultimately doesn't. This is my journey and I own that till the day we set sail in February. Then after the cruise, I have plans to maintain and work on the next goal. Why stop, right? Even if I will have bad weeks at some future date, there is hope at the end of this journey, as long as I keep looking forward, instead of settling back into bad habits. Thank you all and hope everyone has had great results today.
SilentlyPerfect Posted July 8, 2021 #50 Share Posted July 8, 2021 Good Afternoon All! 🙂 Another weigh-in day (Thursday) and I am happy to report I lost another 1.2 pounds! Slow going with the weather (rain) not being in my favor. Getting outside other than pulling a few weeds, housework, grocery shopping and researching excursions has been about the extent of my endeavors. Okay, I will admit I do Pokémon, but usually from a car window. 🤣 I plan on stepping it up in the activity section of my life. There are a few walking trails my daughter takes around our development so that is just one of my goals to start this next week. I have reduced my meals to one a day to prevent from over-eating, but this next week I plan on working on portion control and not going back for seconds. I thought I could give up coffee, but it is a persistent habit that wins out. I suppose I will save that goal (doing without), for another week. In other words, baby steps! Our bodies does not like changes and seems to fight against our good intentions by tempting us back into our old habits. My mother used to work for weightwatchers and she warned me many years ago that our bodies don't like destroying those little fat cells we created over time; it takes work and energy on our bodies part to create them. In fact, our bodies like to regulate everything and prefers homeostasis, you might even say our bodies can be somewhat anal-retentive at times. When we go on diets our body defends itself against us (yeah imagine that, we are the enemy), because staving is not in its best interest. As my mother would put it, "Our bodies or rather somewhere in our subconscious, fears losing control and will compensate for that when you go back for seconds." I suppose that is a weakness for me, going back for seconds, especially when I am congratulating myself for not eating anything forbiddingly sweet. Once again, baby steps will have to be my motto for this next month. Rome may had not been built in a day, but my goals far outweigh giving-up. Giving-up just means I am willing to settle for the weight I have reached today and so far, I am not willing to allow myself that kind of surrender. Thank you all, and hope everyone has had good results today. Katia
