Yeah sure! LMAO! I'm sure Carnivals secret behind the scenes Mossad agents will spring into action as soon as any infraction takes place. 🤣

I imagine a few will be made an example of, and word will get around. I think 2021 will be a record year for people getting banned from Carnival

Is it April already? Cause you'd have to be a fool to believe that. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.

With an empty bar or seats available at the bar in the smoking section? I doubt it. Sure, there may be some who stop playing to have a smoke and chat/chill but most people who just want to smoke and drink will go to the bar. There are usually just not enough seats.

Not much different other than choice of vice, from people sitting for hours at tables on Lido while people with trays of food try to find somewhere to eat

Once upon a time you could board a Carnival ship with a suitcase of liquor bottles clanking away. Times change. Only a fool believes past performance of a stock continues forever.

Oh I understand the whole "I used to enjoy it but no longer do, so you should't either" or "I used to enjoy it but now find it unhealthy, so it should be banned henceforth" arguments. They come up every time there is a smoking thread and the majority of the antis are former smokers who decided to quit and think they should decide for everyone else too (not implying this is you). That or the self diagnosed allergic's and drama queens who "simply can't go on" if they smell smoke. Not really trying to get off course into that, been there, done that. There are plenty of other smoke-free areas of the ship. It's the one and only single bar that is inclusive of smokers.

You didn't hear those kinds of remarks from me. You miss the good ones when you paint with a broad stroke and I do appreciate your "not implying" remark because that isn't me. It's why they're called smoking and non smoking sections, you stay in yours and I'll stay in mine. 🙂

The ships smoke as well as vehicle and plane smoke are not caused by people.   Second hand smoke though is.  It's why you and your ilk are not allowed to smoke on balconies on US based cruise lines.   I assume there are European based ones that still allow it since smoking like a chimney is more acceptable on the other side of the pond.

The cruise lines can put all of the blowers,  scrubbers, etc that they want, but smoke permeates,  period.  Smoking should be relegated to outside open areas only to minimize second hand smoke.  But, gambling and smoking go hand in hand, so you'll always have your little area to socialize in while you make your deposit to the cruise lines.

Flame away (with cancer stick in hand)

That makes zero sense. If you're going to side-bust in on a conversation with some negative nonsense to disburse your sense of superiority, you should at least make sense. You also assume way too much.

Or you take on a couple of bottles and you could wait for the ports where the stores had excellent prices on top brands and they would deliver your liquor packages to your cabin while you were at the beach. Carnival allowed that beverage revenue loss until 1992

Getting rid of the bar altogether solves the problem. At with the amount of free drinks the casino is including these days, a little slower service results in a bigger rake for the house.

Well now that they free up all that space, maybe there will be more smoking seats, both slots and tables.  Just make sure not to forget that cone of silence, designers!

As Blerk says, overall, this is moot. People will have their opinion and most won’t change. The fact is, Carnival made their decision, as sucky as it is, those are the facts. Let’s just hope it’s not permanent. If it is, we will move on, and make other adjustments. We are all entitled to fresh air and personal choices.

There will still be smoking sections in the casino.

Maybe they should reinstate the smoking lounges or cigar bars of the past. Make it a space that has a inside & outside access, and heavy-duty fans.

I actually miss the cigar bar. Was a fun, relaxed place to hang out and get to know people. I don’t dabble in the cigars, but it was a place to escape to with minimal traffic and crowd. Also usually had some very interesting worthwhile people worth talking to.

It's also where people went to meet John Heald and learn which night he would have a " cigars under the stars " night on an open deck. Very popular with aficionados.

You don't think minimal traffic and crowd is why they were done away with?

It was not designed. It was a concept that was created on the way to Long Beach.

Also known as an afterthought. Those are the worst, which is why the space looks are bad as it does.

My last three Carnival cruises have caused me to avoid the casino.

My throat becomes irritated at the mere hint of cigarette smoking.  I've tried early.....and very late hours to get a few hands of video poker dealt only to be driven away by the fumes.

The idea that there is a "smoking area" and a "non smoking area" is farcical.  The smoke goes everywhere due to the low ceiling.....and smokers at the bar are very close.  A mask offers no help.

I have had far better experience on the Princess ships where the ceiling height is much more elevated.

I like to gamble a little especially on sea days and with a cocktail in hand.

Chain smokers need to take their habit elsewhere on board and be more considerate of others.

It would be awesome if they had a lounge. I have a pretty impressive cigar collection with some decade+ aged sticks. I actually just bought a large travel humidor specifically for cruising.

I'm not enough of a night owl to know this from personal experience, but wasn't the casino bar usually the last bar open in the wee hours? Or maybe that's the atrium bar. Or maybe now it will be the atrium bar.

Yup, usually around 3:30 or so, whenever they close the tables. There is technically another spot to get a few more beers if your cheers isn't busted but I would rather not blow it up.
