You said that a lot better than I could have.

We're at a concerning point right now as infection rates are rising again thanks to the newest mutation of the Coronavirus making its' way through concentrations of mostly unvaccinated people.  And as someone who both enjoys cruising and is a Carnival shareholder I  just don't see how the cruise industry can stray from the path of vaccinated cruises for the foreseeable future.

Can certainly understand your concerns but keeping the big picture in perspective, it’s not a matter of him being treated like third-class steerage, it’s a matter of an entire industry doing all they can to survive.

On land I could give a rats ass who is or isn’t vaccinated. I have full faith in the vaccines.

But out at sea, on what the critics of the cruise industry call floating Petri dishes, it is vital for them to do all they can to make sure an outbreak of more than 10 or so people never occurs, and extremely vital that nobody dies either on the cruise or shortly thereafter.

Sorry for the inconvenience it may cause you, but just as the government won’t force anyone to take the jab, nobody is forcing him not to either. It’s his decision, but like all decisions, he has to live with the limitations any business might impose, and the rest of you unfortunately will have to live with his decision also.

I'm not disagreeing, which is why we will just cancel. I won't be posting tirades against the cruise lines. They have to do what they have to in order to survive. Hopefully we will be able to get passed all of this in the not-too-distant future.

I have October and December cruises and I am guessing that at least the October Cruise will be 95% vaccinated or a very high percentage vaccinated. I was just looking at excursions this morning and bubble excursions are now showing up in one ports.

Which Port?

If you are speaking about vax/unvax, don't expect it to change this year and until sometime late next year. Duffy and the rest of the Execs have a responsibility to keep all ships sailing with passengers to the shareholders. If the demand from vaxxed is high enough and they can pack ships that way, there is no reason to get rid of the protocol until covid and all variants are gone.

We have a November cruise booked and if we haven't heard anything by our final payment date we will cancel. We have five adults and two cabins, but one person won't be vaccinated. If he is going to be treated like third-class steerage then we won't be going.

Same here.  Nov cruise and we won't make the final payment until we know more what will be happening.  We will have three kids - unvaccinated.  Sitting in limbo --- already made back up plans for a resort stay at a resort in the Caribbean.

We do not sail until 11/20 and we have BUBBLE excursions for our cruise, so I assume vaccinated for the rest of the yr at a minimum

Same.  We cruise 11/20 on the MG and Amber Cove is the only stop, so far, that has bubble tours.  We were planning on staying onboard anyways for that port for most of the day anyways.

That is correct as unvaccinated can only get off on a bubble excursion. My brother and his family is on the second leg of a B2B on the Vista and that is the current protocols.  His wife and him have their unvaccinated 9 yr old sailing with them. He was able to get off in ports on his own outside a bubble tour to do some shopping in port while his wife stayed on board with their son.

Not sure if everyone knows this yet or not but if you use oxygen or on dialysis you won’t be able to cruise this year. My sister is on oxygen and we just found out today that we cannot go on our November Mardi Gras sailing. So disappointed but I understand. Changed it to as Alaska cruise May 2022. Fingers crossed.

That has to be very disappointing. 😞 You, however,  have an amazingly positive attitude about it. I have my fingers crossed for you also. 🙂

Part of the problem being unvaccinated is that some of the ports won't let them off the ship. If Carnival follows Royal, they will be treated differently.

We sailed last week on Horizon. Our tablemates had an unvaccinated 10 year-old. They were told the ports don't allow them off unless in a bubble tour because many of the port workers have not been vaccinated yet so they are higher risk. The bubble tour had a guard that watched them the entire time, escorted them to the bathroom etc to ensure they did not come in contact with anyone in port unvaccinated"

So, just confirming. 5 vaccinated adults and 1 unvaccinated 8 yr old - we all need to take a bubble excursion if we want to get off board together?

Correct. The vaccinated can get off and do anything they want but if they plan to stay with the unvaccinated all must do the bubble tour.

I would think that all Carnival sailings through the end of the year, will be deemed vaccinated sailings. I have nothing to back up my assumption. It just seems like a reasonable response to this pandemic.

I think you are probably right but I also think Carnival needs to come to a decision and let people know so they can make their decision one way or another. I don't blame people being concerned about being left in a bit of limbo over the situation.

Currently what they and others are dong in Florida to not get fined. They are asking if you would like to show proof of vaccination. Not requiring you to do so. So if you choose not to. You are consider non vaccinated. Why would anyone that is vaccinated not want to show proof of that?

You will need to purchase the Bahamas medical Insurance at $40.00 per person and proof of vaccination to get that.

That only applies to cruises leaving from Nassau currently like RCLs Adventure of the Seas.  Bubble tours are for those with unvaccinated (mostly kids) in their party.  You don't have to do a Bahamas visa for a US departure port cruise unless they change the rules.    My comment was just sharing that we don't even have a confirmation on a Baltimore restart but bubble tours started showing up this week.

Please go and read the Bahamas requirements. Any one visiting the Bahamas MUST first have the Bahamas health insurance visa. If you are leaving a port and heading to the Bahamas. You must have the Bahamas health insurance before even boarding the ship. https://www.bahamas.com/travelupdates

I have already read it and it's for those that fly into the Bahamas. The "Cruise passengers" section states for "Guests on cruises that originate in and return to The Bahamas" aka RCL's Adventure.

And if you don't believe me, maybe you'll believe the Bahamas minister of Tourism quoted in a news article on return to cruising - Minister of Tourism and Aviation Dionisio D’Aguilar - “Cruises that initiate out of Florida, the government has loosened its restrictions somewhat. All of those passengers that commence or embark in Florida, they will not require a health visa.”  “it is different from homeporting, where the requirement is that everyone must fulfill the government of The Bahamas’ health protocols.”  He goes on to state the cruise lines are taking care of the vaccine certifications, testing and insurance on their end.
