The octopus looks delicious 🙂 we get it grilled often.  Years ago, like 30 I was on a three week trip for business in Japan, out of the tourist areas.  We hit the Sake and beers with a customer one night and the fried grasshoppers came out in a big bowl, actually they were tasty.    Love escargot, take or leave the frog legs.   Love to have choices

Those do look more like hush puppies than beignets.

Ate grasshoppers in SERE training, they weren't fried though, we ate them raw.

The escargot is pretty good, not at all slimy. Sadly they don't serve in the proper dish these days, but I imagine those were harder to clean and not useful for too many dishes.

I remember those special dishes, with a garlic butter filled cavity for each snail. Those were the days.
