as yuo can see i all too much time on my hands

on the first 2 pages of this board i counted 5 different threads that had to do with clothing/dress code etc --if that wasnt bad enough these 5 threads generated 17818 reads (i do realize that there are multiple people looking multiple times at the same thread) and 680 replies. enough is enough ---- i am therefore proposing the following thread--- breast feeding a child in the d/r during formal nites --extra points if you post a comment regarding informal or casual nites

LOL!! I've been on the boards a few years now, and I have to say this past month is not typical of the HAL board. Typically the HAL board is very nice, calm and relaxing. It's had a different flavor lately, but still doesn't compare to some of the other boards(if you can believe it). The HAL board has always been my home board, as everyone is so genuinely nice. For you new posters reading this, lately what's been happening is very uncharateristic.

I'll admit... i'm a first timer to these HAL boards, and more than a little freaked out by recent posts. BUT when I really think about it... the same topics get beaten to death on Royal Caribbean boards, and yes, heavenstobetsy, even the carnival people like to debate the dress codes!!!

 

I'm enjoying my cruise, i'm taking everything i read with a grain of salt, AND I'm betting everyone on my HAL cruise will be nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worst thing I ever saw in the dining room - a matching green baseball cap and T-shirt. The cap had "John Beer" printed on it in yellow. Not John Deere. John Beer. The logo was a keg with legs and horns. I gave it points for 'funny' even though I took away hundreds more for 'inappropriate attire'. The T-shirt went away for formal night, but the cap stayed.

I imagine it can more easily be accomnplished if you're wearing a dress cut down to there. Black is always appropriate. Beware of dangling jewelry, however. Oh, and diamonds that are too large could disturb the child with their blinding flashes, so be careful there.

The baby, of course, must be dressed in formal nappies in public areas. Are disposables considered too casual?

a voice out of our past (randy and i) sailed with carol and her pre teen daughter (going on 17) on our oosterdam cruise to the caribbean -- as i recall they walked past our cabana but did stay because randy scared the diva--

so good to hear from you-- where are you going on 3/15??? is the husband and son finally going cruising with you and the diva?? care to join us on the 1/6/07 odam out of san diego to the mex riviera-trying to remember exactly what you called the predinner drink you had before you left the cabin --remember-- what goes on a hal ship stays on a hal ship

OK...so crazy isn't a professional term...big deal. :p Oh yes Lou is off his meds.....I can tell because of his fixation with body parts....well....I can't go there. :rolleyes: Write me at my email address and I'll spill the all the beans.....Lou hasn't paid his bill so so much for the patient-doctor relationship.

Marie - You really don't know how we met. See....it was our first cruise together on the Oosterdam and we were at the dinner table the first night. So, as is natural, folks are going around introducing themselves and Lou ask me what I do so I tell him I'm a doctor. Before I could get a word out he puts his bare foot on the table and ask me about this foot fungus he has.....let me tell you.....much to the delight of the rest of the table. Of course I had to correct him and tell him I was a psychotherapist, not a foot specialist. It crossed my mind immediately that it was really fortunate that I wasn't a proctologist........ :o

The more HAL markets to the masses vs the traditional passenger the more clothing threads, topless threads and how to smuggle booze on board there will be. Unfortunately, many of these people, wonderful as they may be, want the thrill, romance and high level of service provided by a HAL cruise without their willingness to go along with the high level of passenger civilization (for want of a better phrase). Unfortunately, once tradition gets put on the back burner, then it will no longer be the "place" to come and it will be very difficult to recover.

 

Therefore, don't simply give up the good fight to keep traditions, fight like H for them at every turn.
